help with nickademus!!??

Hi everyone, I've been a fan of gamebanshee for a few months now, but never posted in the forums, but I'm stuck in the game, so I thought I could ask for some help from you Icewind Dale II vets.

I am in my first time through the game with a party of 4 (half of them are level 6, half are level 9, but they all have enough exp to be 12), and I am in chapter 2, the Ice temple level 2.

I recently walked into the room where Nickademus is and had a normal conversation with him, I told him I would ask him for his favor later, and when the dialogue ended, he left the room.

I didn't know this was abnormal until I exited his bedroom, right outside the entrance he was waiting for me with a Myocnid, Sword Spider, Barbarian, Necromancer, and Frost Giant all of whom were hostile. They began attacking me, and when I killed them (including Nickademus) a message appeared saying I had killed someone vital for finishing the game, and it made me reload.

I eventually realized that Nickademus should NOT be hostile, but I tried talking to him a few more times, but every time he left the room and was waiting for me with an ambush. I accidentally saved after I had talked to him once, so the only load point is now the autosave from going down the stairs from level 1. I don't want to have to reload from there, because I have cleared out most of the level, and that would be a pain to do again, so can anybody help me with my dilemma? I tried dominating him, but he followed me around even when I had dominated him, and then when it wore off he attacked.

Any ideas?? Am I going to have to re-do the level from the beginning?

oh never mind!

I just noticed the thread(s) about the same topic, wow I'm embarassed...i guess I'll have to reload from ice temple level 1 autosave oh well.

I must say that i havent heard that thing before.. when you speak with nickademus could you tell what are dialogue options wich you use? Or Does this happend anyway? You could try ignoring him totally.. but that is just theory.. i will try that later today.. right after my History exam.. Greek.. Rome.. and Egypt... great.. thank god there isn't China.. but i know pretty much about history of that country... on my own perspective..

as said - don't open his locked chest!

generally don't open locked chest of people standing nextby if you don't want to fight them!
