Next time, start by posting your own favorite weapon, and use some arguments why it is your favorite.

Mine has to be Ashideena (the warhammer +2)
You get it early in the game, it does good damage (also good VS the lower AC character) and last but not least, it looks good on your character!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

I like Spiderbane very much, G.sword +2 and free action is great, and you get it early too.

Long Sword +2;

You get this also very early in the game, and it probably is one of the first magical weapons you achieve, making it especially at the beginning very strong. It deals a lot of damage, plus often some ice damage. Also, you get it on an interesting side quest (the Prism/Greywolf story) and you have to kill a powerful enemy to get it (Greywolf), so you get a nice reward for a tough enemy. Very deadly in the hands of Minsc :p

I'll probably find some more interesting weapons in the future, so this isn't a final decision. I'm about to pickpocket Drizzt's Scimitar +3, so that certainly will bring some interesting fights in the future...

Longbows and shortbows. They do major damage in BG1 while you're at a comfortable distance. That is, unless the opposition has them too.

The Composite Longbow.

Supply one for any fighter/ranger/paladin with two stars or more in it and you can destroy your enemies from afar. There are two decent magical ones in BG that will take out any of the smaller races (xvarts, kobolds, hobgoblins, etc) in one hit, so when you get mobbed, you can hit them and sometimes kill a few long before they get to you. Use magical arrows in addition to the second most powerful missile weapon in the game, and you don't have to worry about spellcasters much at all. Gotta love the CLB! :D

My favorite weapons are Warhammer +2 from Bassillus and Longsword +2 from Greywolf, they are good weapons and you can get them early in the game.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

I agree with Curry, those are probably my favourite weapons too. Add Short Sword of Backstabbing.

Dagger of Venom, MOHAHAHA! Seriously this weapon rocks! Even though it doeas a little less damage than Sword of Backstabbing it deals poison damage! Just sneak up behinf that bloody wizard and WAM, you can't cast any spells for 15 seconds, you are now officially TERMINATED! I love playing a Ranger with this weapon. It's both good game and good roleplay! Stealthy Rangers Rocks (SRR)!

I have to go with Curry too, with the addition of the Longbow of Marksmanship. Get an elf ranger/fighter with 19 DEX, Longbow of Marksmanship, and Bracers of Archery and you have a pretty powerful fighter on your hands. If he has Varscona as a melee back-up, he is pretty set

But out of the three, I would have to say the Warhammer +2 is my favorite since I play Clerics or R/C the most. I like to call it my 'Warhammer of Justice' and go around smiting the evil of the Sword Coast.

Guys, he said non-magical...
I would have to say the war hammer on a cleric, because they just look awesome. Also long swords are my favorite because they do nice damage and they are easy to come by (magical and non-magical).

Oh, if we are talking non-magical, then I would say a mace for my clerics (do more damage then warhammers) or composite bows. Maces lose out when you get into the magical weapon topics because the can get the Warhammer +2 so soon, but when you only have access to normal weapons, I like maces better

I know for a role-playing perspective that the axe is a dwarf's best friend, but the long sword does the same damage and is quicker. I don't know how much of an effect this has on BG, but it kinda sucks for the bigger fans of the subterranean races.

ohhhh, non-magical! That has to be the war hammer. I just like the thought of bashing my hammer against someones skull until there is brain pieces everywhere. The long sword is almost as cool and a lot better too, so it's these two.

I like the sword of Balduran. Not that it's really all that great in normal battles. But after losing to (spoiler)... Karoug, the Wolfwere ...so many times, I finally had my thief loot the place first, find the sword, toss it to my main brawler who then hacked that bastard to pieces in about 3 swipes of the golden blade!! :D

Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?Mitch: No... Chris Knight:Why am I the only one who has that dream?

if I play a Fighter, I prefer two-handed swords. If I play a Mage, I use missile weapons (and spells, of course). If I play a Thief or a Druid, I prefer scimitars, just because of what's available in the game.

I always liked Bastard Swords. I liked the fact that it can be used either one-handed with a shield or two-handed. If we're talking magical weapons, I liked Spiderbane. Seeing my paladin walking around with a two-handed sword just hacking and slashing everything in sight is cool. Oh and the free action side effect is a good thing.
