Post by at99 »

My Paladin stronghold is in ?
I did the quests and after saving girl from assasins the order says thanks that will be all.
I think that is all and the stronghold does not exist.

Is in the small room in the order house.
Noone seems to know exactly and I am confused

A stronghold is just a term for another place that you can sleep in. But I think there's a bug with the Paladin one, you can download the "Paladin Resting In Stronghold Fix" from Baldurdash.

If you've done all the Paladin quests including the bit where you killed Firkraag, then you should have the stronghold. You don't really get the entire building to own, just a small room where you can rest. The building is also a good place to store items for later use. ;)

I have done all the quests but did firkraag earlier on before stronghold quests. I think there must be a bug. Where is the room exactly you get.

Paladin's get easily the worst stronghold quests in the game; to acquire your stronghold you've probably killed a dragon and acquired a sword which has an almost grail-like significance to Paladins. What to you get to do now? - Fight two easy battles and spend a night babysitting! The Pride of the Legion is a great suit of armour, but it could have been so much more...

Actually, all you need to do is rescue Garren's child. The dragon is supposed to be the last quest of the Paladin Stronghold, you'll get less xp if you kill him before you're told to.

I was extremly dissappointed with the Paladin quests in general. The only one I enjoyed was the Firekragg one, and that was simple (Chapter 6, level 17). Personally, I think the fighter stronghold and quests are the best (only requires you to spend cash!)

If you think that the paladin stronghold sucks, you should consider that a paladin in AD&D can't have anything that he cannot carry with himself, and you could also consider that, in a way, Carsomir is the reward from the "getting stronghold" of a paladin, and it is a reward that can be considered much better than any stronghold.
Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

Well, maybe the quests aren't so great (except Firkraag) but the equipment you get makes up for it...

Anyway, the thief stronghold quests are far more boring. :(

The ones I liked best so far are: fighter, ranger & mage - Now let's go for the cleric stronghold :D

Does the thief stronghold quest do anything beyond the reprisal of a now-dead despot ?

You should only be able to get cromsyr if you are a paladin, that would make it worthwhile. Being able to sleap in your own room might have been nice too.
When logic and proportion,

And the White Knight is talking backwards,
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"

Personally I think the fighter stronghold is the coolest. I mean, you get an entire castle! There is even a comfortable room on the second floor where my romance and I make-out. ;) :D The crappiness of the Paladin stronghold is to be expected because you're only part of an organization, but with the Fighter stronghold, you run the joint.

Those paladins will aid you regardless. Even if you're Evil (although i think you need high Charisma if you're evil). ;)
