This looks as though my game ends here - there's no cover, they move too fast, and I can make a dent in them with my shotgun, but I still end up "dead".
Any clues on this? I just don't think my character has what it takes to get through this.

Know the layout of the area. there are two stairs going up. Make use of them. Run up one, turn around. shoot/slash/hammer/whatever at your opponents. They should warp out. now run back down and up the other stairs.
If you need a breather to recover run up one stair, walk a bit of the edge, jump off then go up the other stairs.
Also do not run in straight lines if you are in the arena thingie. Move in arcs that way you've got a reasonable chance of evading the ranged attack. Try to keep your back to a wall since that is usually the place they like to pop-up

Major advantage
On one play through, I found an amazing phenomenon - when they blew me up - I was catapaulted into the air and landed on top of a thin ledge.
from the ledge I could simply shoot them at my leisure and they could not jump high enough to get me. the had the occasional blast from the centre, but i think shooting them as they prepared for it may have put them off and reduced the number of times they were able to blast. they concentrated on trying to reach me, without success.
you can jump onto an ornament which can be useful.
normally I just run around a lot, using the stairs to put some distance between them and me.
the absolute key to this is to focus on one brother - I usually choose claw brother and target my attacks on him. the chalice or blood packs do help if you do get caught, but celerity 5 plus the katana works a treat.
fighting on the rim, jumping from the surround into the arena and then up the stairs again usually gives you a chance to heal up.

Chang Brothers
Stay up in the hallway, dont go forward til you fall down inside with them. They have to come to you, back up the hall and fight as you go. Keep walking out to the doorway and they will see you and come flying up to you. Back up fighting as you go, keep hiding around the corner and heal. It may take a few minutes but it works.
