Heres the deal, lets start a contest to see who can make the best weapon. It has to be balanced so no weapons that make you immune everything. And to see who wins we should all vote on it! Some deciding factors should be if people would actually use it, it its balanced, if it has a good story and so on!
Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Oxymoron of the day: Microsoft Works
I think its a good idea. I have created several 'balanced' weapons which will be seen in our expansion.

Garrett, it's only fair to say that KensaiRyu may win your contest hands down (or up; whichever way you prefer). Since he's one of the main minds behind the new "informal" add-on to BG2, balance is very much a concern of his. You might just want to make a prize for his team, and another prize for anybody else.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I think the word 'balance' does not necessarily mean that there should be penalties for using them... For example in SoA, CF is very powerful but no one has ever complained that it's overpowered, since there are other cool weapons (blackrazor, carsomyr, CF +3, equalizer, mace of disruption +2) and it's very cool in the sense that none of these weapons are superior to another (ie. they are not stand-alone weapons and people will be temped to use different weapons for various combat situations or by personal preference). One item I'm thinking is the +3 dagger which gives a thief permanent invisibility (as in staff of magi) and non-detection. It would be very good (and cheap) weapon for the assassin (x7 backstab) but its relatively low enchantment could make PC use other weapons for fighting powerful opponents (dragons, demons etc) or for useful combat abilities (blackrazor, celestial fury etc).
I actually made "veil of steel" myself (I loved veil of steel so much). It has following statistics:
Helm: Veil of Steel
Description: I cannot write it here (I forgot it) but it's a story about mad king Leoric in the land of westmarch and involves King Leoric, his prince al... (dunno), lachdanan, a mysterious warrior (main character) and diablo. Actually I copied a whole story from diablo manual (reall cool) and it was fun to read
STATISTICS:
Equipped Abilities:
Strength bonus: +1
Constitution bonus: +1
Intelligence penalty: -2
Saving throws bonus: +1
Elemental resistance bonus: 50% (magical & non-magical)
10% chance wearer become blind for 2 rounds (non-dispellable and bypass resistance) -> I used custom spell made from blindness spell and just changed target, casting time, duration, and probability.
Cursed
Armor Class bonus: 1
Required Strength: 10
I'm enjoying this item very much (I also imported great helm picture from diablo) 'cause it absorbs a lot of damage from elemental attack like fireball, lightning bolt or dragon breath but its blindness penalty (in diablo game it has -20% light radius) really pisses me off sometimes (esp. during combat) and I also keep Vhailor's helm in handy in case I need it. I tried hard to emulate -20% light penalty, and even without this penalty I would still be using Vhailor's helm or helm of brilliance (veil of steel replaced helm of balduran).

We plan on using animations from other sources in the expansion.I tried to make my own Bams to be used in game and it looked like a little kids drawing in a grown up world. So I can't actually draw my own (maybe a good artist could) but I can bring graphics in from other games (hint hint).
