Who to drop for TOB
Who to drop for TOB
I am a chaotic good berserker who dual wields longswords.
My party consists of Myself, Minsc, Jaheira, Aerie, Anomen and Imoen. I want to drop one member for Sarevok in TOB. Who should I drop?? I am having a romance wif Aerie and won't want to drop her.

Unless you've invested a whole lot of time into Keldorn, drop him for Sarevok. If you have, however, taken a shine to the little Inquisitor-that-could, drop Minsc.Originally posted by Gaxx_Firkraag:

Me (sorceror)
Keldorn
Minsc
Jaheira (romance)
Aerie
Imoen
I think I just won't get Saervok for my good party.</STRONG>
Jace4ever - drop Jaheira!!! IMO she's one of the worst npcs... Just there for the romance!
and Gaxx_Firkraag - I would say Aerie, as much as it hurts me to say this... You already have a good healer and a good mage so she's there for backup... drop her or Keldorn for Sarevok IMO...
Now I need some advices -
Cavalier
Minsc
Valygar
Anomen
Imoen
Aerie(romance)
I think valygar doesn't belong in here.... What do you say???

Tigerin, just another loyal paladin in the league of divinity!
Honestly speaking, Tigerin. I would drop Valygar for Sarevok. Valygar is a good fighter. But Sarevok IS an INCREDIBLE fighter. You won't regret it if he joins you.
Strangely, Sarevok seem to be immune to level drain. I noticed it when I was playing TOB. The vampires in the prison damaged him but did NOT level drain him. Did this occur to any of you all?

I have the same problem. I am unsure of who to use in ToB. My team in SoA consists of:
Cavalier (me)
Minsc
Cernd
Viconia
Aerie
Jan
However, i have heard....

that one can increase there int by 1. If that's true, would it be wise to put imoen in for aerie? That way she could have an int of 18, and get to cast lvl 9 spells. Or is it better to give the int to aerie so that she can cast even more spells from her already huge list?
By the way, I am thinking about changing Cernd for Sarevok, any comments?

High Int for spellcasters is overrated. You can still cast level 9 or 10 spells with Aerie's Int. She gets the spell slots and can use them normally. She only has to drink an Int raising potion before she can scribe any scrolls.
Priests have it even easier in BG; they don't even need high Wisdom to gain level 7 spells.

Wow, I don't think I've seen so much bad advice in a thread before. Those of you who are bagging on Jaheira don't know what's good for you! She can take on most of ToB by herself. Iron Skins, Globe of Blades, Greater Whirlwind, and the Spectral Brand +5; Sarevok's tough, but even he would have to get on his knees and beg for his graciously given life to stand up to Miss J.
Those of you who have Aerie, but aren't romancing her, should drop her for Sarevok. I'm sorry to say it, but she isn't all that useful in ToB. Unless you play through the game more than once, Aerie won't reach high enough level in either of her classes to make good use of high-level spells, which is a damn shame. If you are romancing Aerie, I'd suggest dropping Anomen. If you've got Aerie, you've already got a vessel for the necessary cleric spells, and together with Jaheira, you'll have more than enough healing power.
Certainly don't drop Keldorn. There are literally dozens of enemies that will drink down invisibility potions, and having access to a quick and easy True Sight is an invaluable ability. And this isn't even taking Carsomyr +6 into consideration. If you dual Sarevok into a thief, his Use Any Item ability will allow him to use the Holy Avenger too, though there are better things to give him, and time better spent than dualling him into anything.

Why would Jaheira be able to make good use of high level abilities, but not Aerie? They get about the same amount of 'em, right?

Jaheira is a multi-classed fighter/druid, whereas Aerie is a cleric/mage. As soon as Jaheira levels up, she'll have access to both high-level fighter abilities, as well as Quest spells. Similarly, Aerie will have access to Quest spells when she levels up, but it will be a considerable amount of time before she'll have access to 9th and 10th level mage spells. This is unfortunate, but true. If you were to complete Watcher's Keep as well as the main storyline, you could probably get her to a high enough level to make good use of her mage class. Still, you'd have to play a large portion of the game with a relatively weak backup mage.Originally posted by Xyx:

Regardless, since Jace is romancing Aerie, there's no question of dropping her. Ultimately, it boils down to Jaheira or Anomen, and personally, I think two clerics is overdoing it. The Heartwood Ring will allow you to get even more out of Jaheira, and as far as I know, there's nothing comparable to it for clerics in ToB.
