Yeah Half life 2 is pretty good, I don't like the ending though.

I struggled when reviewing HL2, because on the one hand it has the best use of graphics and best production values of any game ever. On the other hand, the story is simplistic, the characters weak (they depend on the graphics to appear real), the weapons all are lousy (except one), and the levels are 'etch-a-sketch' linear ...

Still, I end up saying that I recommend it to everyone - because despite the shortcomings, it is still quite a gaming experience.

The physics engine in that game is incredible, that alone is enough for me to suggest trying the game out.

It's an FPS through and through :) . No complexity, no development, just mindless, linear, shootin n blastin...

And sometimes a roleplayer needs to let off some steam :D . I personally found this game excellent, it filled its purpose as a worthy sequel to HL, and as a damn good classic FPS.

I personally found the characters interesting, if 2D in their personalities (ie. there are simply "good" and "bad" characters, with no change or justification) the dialogue was well scripted and performed, with the most realistic animations yet.

It provided an exhilirating experiance I've never felt before in any game :)

Life x2

I started with Doom, as folk of my age did - so I value smooth movement and the capacity to inflict mindless violence on sprites. HL2 has a pretty good physics engine and high graphical realism. Games like Hidden & Dangerous spoil the gaming experience for weaker games - once you have experienced almost photo-realistic scenery you don't want to play clunky games.
HL2 is as good as billed - although it is very much a FPS with little in the way of intellectual challenge. Sometimes being able to blow things up is enough.

what a contrast to Myst...
