The Witcher is a RPG game, build using a version of the Auroa Engine (which were behind NwN).
Possible take a look at http://www.thewitcher.com.

The game looks promising, but I've not followed the development that much, because frankly - I have little faith in RPG these days (but that is another story). Hopefully this game can restore some of that when it is released :)

The game actually looks promising. The storyline, which is based on a Polish fantasy series, is quite interesting and the developers seem to be taking their time in development of the title. Check out the preview that was linked on Gamebanshee a few months ago -

And for the E3 report ..

It's nice to see an engine (Aurora) that had potential get a second chance. After Bioware's horrible attempt at using it for NWN, I was a little dissapointed, simply because of everything the engine would allow the gaming community to do. IT seems like they've tweaked a bit.

All in all, this game looks promising.

The screen shots of the Witcher look quite good; so I'm hopeful that they've done good things with the engine. Given, NWN certainly did not make optimal use of the engine (we've seen some of the more dedicated modding groups take its potential a bit further...)... Anyway, I'm hopeful about the Witcher. The developers seem to be taking their time and exercising a degree of pride with the project we don't see as much as I'd like these days.

In the E3 preview, I admit I was a bit surprised by the expected release date, especially the comment (can't remember where) about how they thought the game would be really good with so much time to make... I'm really just comparing to Oblivion, though. That's the only one I know how long the game has been in development, so it might just take Bethesda longer or something. Back on topic, I don't think the graphics are the best but I can very easily see they are better than a lot of those other games and the storyline seemed interesting so the game might be worth checking out. Despite the fact I think Whitcher is definitely not going to be the best it can be with such a release date (I haven't forgotten it's predicted, but it probably means they have decided everything they want to add and won't include other things) I might see if there's a demo if I still remember it exists by the time it's released.

What you have to remember, Oozae, is that unlike Oblivion, The Witcher is using an existing engine, as opposed to creating one from scratch. In game development, this can save an incredable amount of time. All that has to be done in regards to the Witcher with the Aurora engine is tweak it so that it does what they want it to.

Also, don't think that a longer production time means a better game. Let's not forget the evils that was Daikatana... :o
