Problems Installing

Post by Sgt.Pepper »

I have just recently purchased IWD2 via Amazon Marketplace. I am having issues installing the game, specfically it seems with CD2. I at first tried full install. This worked fine. I changed disks when asked and it continued as would be expected however partway it stopped saying there was a 'Cyclic Redundancy Check'. I tried recommended and the same thing occured although at a higher complete perecentage. Using minimum and hence only CD1 it worked hence why I think the issue is to do with CD2. The game has worked fine on minimum until the start of chapter 1.

I entered the area talked to Torak and proceeded to kill the orcs. I got to the point where all the orcs in the area [including those unlocked by the NPCS] were cleared. I knocked the first log from the logblockage on the RHS of the river, went around to the other side and walked to knock the second out and Torak reappeared, roared and then the game crashes. The windows bar appears at the bottom of the screen with an extra bar [which I cannot access] saying C++ error. This happens everytime a talk to Torak in this way. Note: The 'watch orc' (the one carrying the magic dagger) that the NPC's wife mentions appears to be dead already - there is just his item pile on the floor.

I have run CD Check on CD2 and the file responsible appears to be SNDvo.bif.
I do not know what to do. I am unsure whether I can return the game given the medium of purchase and I very much want to play IWD2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lol I am by no means the greatest tech guy around... Unfortunately I have no idea what I wrote to Pepper then... And I don't know whether it worked for him or not since he didn't reply.

PM sent to whocares too :D

thank you but there is no hope

umm i cannot get another copy of the game :(
there appears to be a "spot" on the cds data containing metal layer....
there is no damage to the plastic that protects it and there is no damage to the
cd label/cover side either.....i dont know if this is what is responsible for the data errors but i dont know how a spot can just mess up like that.....
i am very disapointed that i spent my money on this game only to have the cd magically screw up....im gonna go look and find out who manufactured that cd and be sure to never buy from them again

*2 install attempts and numerous cd cleanings later I stuck the cd in the microwave and watched it crackle and burn*
