Looking at the spell development for the Wizard and Sorcerer classes, it looks like the Wizard maxes out the number of spells received (4 per spell level) at experience level 20. The Sorcerer appears to max out at 6 spells per spell level at experience level 21. Other spell casters (Cleric, Druid, etc.) seem to max out at a higher experience level.
Based on this, it seems the only benefit of continuing to advance in these classes past experience level 20 is to get additional damage dice on the few spells that allow it, and some increase in spell DC (I think this is based in part on experience level, but maybe I'm wrong).
Is this correct? Should I be looking to cap the level on my spell casters, and multi to another class?

Mages gets a fifth cast for lev. 1-5 between lev. 22 and 30, so after 20 you want get much.
Sorc. will learn some spell high lev. spell, but will not increase the number of casting after lev. 21 (they know only 3 lev. 7/8/9 spells).
Clerics/druid will gain one spell for all lev. between 21-30.
So continuing to advance in the spellcasting class will net few spell (with the exception of the sorc.), but you gain more power on the one you cast (dmg /lenght can be linket to your lev, and saves against it are harder, so they are more effective).
I would keep spellcaster devoted to dmg/disable enemies at high lev, while I would multiclass your buffer/healer .
