I read in the walkthrough that " a seemingly endless number of zombies" attack you.
Has anybosy actually tried to stay and see if they are infinite? I tried to stay in a room and shoot whoever tried to enter and it quite seemed like an infinite number of zombies entered inside....

It seems like they spawn every few seconds, probably up to a given limit. It's apparent that if you don't keep them mowed down, they'll start to amass pretty significant numbers. Regardless, I'm pretty sure there's no way to permanently kill them all (without completing the crackhouse, of course).

you'll be pleased to note that Bishop Vick's personal guard zombies do not appear to re-spawn.
did this mission yesterday and found that running through the corridors swiping anything that gets in your way works really well - I ran through the crackhouse in about a minute for both floors. note that you can crouch-jump through the gap on the top level which saves some rooms. zombies are slow, but with so many of them, if you stop to fight they just end up having brains for supper.
shotguns can help clear a path, but reloads endanger you if you try to do the mission slowly.
when you get to Vick's - remember my ealier tip of crouching in the corner alongside the right wall so that he has to come directly opposite you to shoot - exposing himself to your counterstrike.
I downed him in a few reloads.
