Party Creation Question

Post by dairy »

I've started a party (just saved the villagers and killed Torak) and I'm starting to wonder how far I can make it with this party:

Half Orc Barbarian
20
18
18
4
12
2

Aassimar Monk of the Dark Moon
18
18
14
4
20
6

Wild Elf Soceror
10
20
18
2
8
18

Rock Gnome Illusionist
10
20
10
18
10
6

Drow Cleric
10
16
10
6
18
20

Aassimar Druid
14
18
14
8
20
6

I just don't want to spend 20 hours playing, then find out I messed up at the very beginning and am now hooped.

Any thoughts, improvements, etc appreciated

A brief thought.

I'd highly suggest going into detail about equipment, skills, feats and (where applicable) spells. This may allow some more insight onto your characters.
Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!

.

as long as you don't go for HOF you shouldn't get into to much trouble...

...as you seem to prefer SC PCs - I'm the wrong man for any further party advice ;)

That party is similar to the first party that I played with. It will win, but won't have the easiest time about it.
My best advice is to add a thief level or two somewhere in the party, perhaps on the barbarian. It isn't mandatory, but does make life a bit easier. To make life much easier, read the multi-class thread and change your party plan accordingly. With your stats and classes, a well planned development can make it much easier.

I would consider adding 2 rogue levels to the rock gnome illusionist to cover search, open locks and disarm (the intelligence- based thief skills). I guess your 2nd tank character would be your monk so thiings could be harder for you until he is up to the task but should be fine in the long run. Other than that you should be fine. What order is your cleric?

Party is good, but if take in mind the fact that you have a full party (6 members) the Xp won't be so huge per person. If you are after to create really powerfull characters my advice is:

Cleric (Human, Drow)
13
12
10
6
18
19

Thief (Taifling, Halfing)
20*
19
14
10
10
7
* The strong thief with hight dixterity is very good fighter in close combat. It can compansate the weakness of the spellcasters

Mage of any kind (Moon elf, Human, Gnome, Drow)
10
15
10
10
20
10

Use the mage on the distance combat with a bow or sling if you chose a drow you'll get extra skill on using bows.

Three characters can be hard if you are battleing a huge hord of enemys. use much of Summon spell then.

nope

personally i find 6 man parties more fun. You get more of a challenge. 4 man is way too easy. Or maybe im just a masakist...

since ive never played it before, i took the base feats that i thought we be useful through out the game (improved initiative a fair bit) and was then just going to go with the flow.
