At your second encounter with the ghoul in Santa Monica you can get 2 points off him for getting him to admit who he works for. I'm pretty sure i just hit the first answer in each dialogue as I was blitzing quests so i dont know the trigger, but im pretty sure it had to do with having a persuasion of 4-5 at the time

It actually is one of two dialogues that relies on perception. You need a perception of 3 prior to entering the Asylum and some ranks in persuasion to get this bit of information out of Knox. Keep in mind that's 3 ranks in perception, not inspection.
