It seems that neutral characters don't benefit for anything except your personal crystal which becomes really good. But it seems I have missed out on alot of roleplaying by not becoming either good or evil, I've missed character development from my companions (like Atton becoming a Jedi), prestige classes.
And now in the end...it seems that I'm forced to stick to LS because my character just happened to make one good deed that made her LS....
I'm sick and tired of this, why isn't there ever a focus on the neutral aligment in RPG's?? What I hated in KOTOR 1 was that once you met up with Bastila again on the temple you HAVE to choose, light or dark. Why not neutral? Why couldn't my character decide to try to persuade Bastila to come back to the LS or to join ME? And if/when that failed...then why couldn't my character kill Malak and reclaim the title of Sith Lord because he has nothing else to live for?
There has only been two games in where being neutral really works, Planescape and Fallout.
Am I the only one to feel this way? I really hope if KOTOR III is ever going to be released that they atleast consider something like this...
No love for neutral Jedis....*Possible Spoilers*
Considering how complete SW universe is based on a fight of Good vs. Evil, actualy it's Light vs. Dark, I can understand why you had to choose light or dark in KotoR. Beside both choices you listed are either light (persuading Bastila come back to the LS) or dark (persuading Bastila to join ME or killing Malak and reclaiming the title of Sith Lord).
And you could be neutral in NWN.

yeah but I meant that maybe Revan's only reason for staying light would be because of Bastila, and if he failed on the Star Forge and killed her then why would he continue to be LS? In KOTOR II it's implied on that Revan chose to become Lord of the Siths out of neccesity to unite the galaxy against a greater enemy. I always thought Revan to be a tragic character according to how I played KOTOR I. I was first über light but then I found out what the Jedi Council did to me and I got a little pissed
So I assumed it would be pretty natural for Revan to go a little dark there..going through a sort of an alignment crisis.
