A good mages robe?

Post by Thomas77 »

I've searched some of the past threads and haven't found anything on this. Anybody know where I can find a good mages robe in Athkatla? Or at least somewhere within the first 3 Chapters? The best one I've found so far is a Knaves Robe, but there's got to be a better one somewhere....

Well, the best I can think is that they must be talking about the Robe of Vecna, which sold by Dierdre the bonus merchant in Ribald's shop.

I agree with the dwarf....
The AC and casting speed is "oh so nice".

As a second choice you can get the Robe of the good archimage in Trademeet. It's restricted to good aligned char, but is the second best robe you can get after Vecna.
the evil archimage robe you can get in the Underdark, while for the neutral you have to wait ToB.
Also a decent (for AC) robe is available if you are doing the mage stronghold quests.

Alright cool. I'll hit up Diedre for that Robe. I've seen those AC 3 bracers but just haven't bought them yet, not sure why not though. I'll have to do that to, I've got plenty of $$$! :)

If you have plenty of gold, I'd recommend you to get the Robe of Vecna. 2 better AC doesn't really matter when you have magic res and such fast cast time... though if you REALLY want to boost yourself you can, of cource, get both... ;)

I have played through to the Underdark before (though I skipped alot of quests in between), but I can't quite remember. Is there a Ring of Wizardry available in SoA within the first few chapters as well?

Ok cool! And one last question (which will probably get this thread shut down as this is a little off topic), but when is the most ideal time to install ToB?

Any time. If you beat the SoA final battle with ToB install, your party will automatically (with the cinematics and all, of course) be taken into the expansion, with every change you made with your party (quest effects, romance, final tests for your PC) being recognized. I HIGHLY recommend that you install ToB ASAP.

Alright, I visited Ribald's Adventurers Mart but never found that chick Deirdre. I met the lady from Yuth (I think that's where she's from) who sells all the magic stuff, but she didn't have the Robe of Vecna. Is there some sort of secret room or something?

Deirdre wasn't there? Did you download the Bonus Merchants?

Nope, no MOD's. Just pure SoA and ToB. I'm assuming that means that I won't be owning the Robe of Vecna anytime soon as I don't have an internet connection at home. Oh well, I found the Robe of the Good Archmagi in Trademeet and am pretty happy with it. Thanks!

You might want to reconsider the "no mods" thing, because this was available from Bioware, if you bought the game early on. It was considered a bonus CD.

Anyway, if you don't want it, the Robe of the Good Archmagi is a pretty good choice. I'd consider holding onto a Robe of Fire Resistance as well, because there are times when you're going to get blasted.

I didn't actually mean to say that I wouldn't install any MOD's only that I don't have internet access giving me the means to download any. ;) I did get a Bonus CD with my purchase of both SoA and ToB, I suppose I should check there....
