No more shields! No repair either!

Post by darkpark »

I'm going through shields like candy and I'm running out of places to buy them at.
I just bought the last shield from the hall of weapons in arindale and there's one more left in arms of argus in fargrove.
i guess this wouldn't be a problem if the repair skill or shop option worked, or if duplicates weren't discarded.
be that as it may, are there any really nice light or medium (my character can't use heavy shields) shields or shields that don't deteriorate somewhere in this game?

the shields are the only pieces of equipment that deteriorate with use. when you block attacks and spells your shield takes a beating. it's durability will go down slowly as you use it and will eventually disappear. towards the beginning of the game where you're mainly running between fargrove and arindale there is almost nothing that will beat on your shield enough to break one but as you get further into the game and fighter more powerful monsters they really put the hurting on your shield. in the tomb of souls, for example, light shields barely last me 5 minutes.

Just go walking on the roads between Fargrove and Skuldoon...or between Fargrove and Arindale. You'll run into plenty of Barrowgrim soldiers, goblins and drey elves, all of which carry decent shields. You should have no problem restocking them.

If your shields are getting destroyed a lot, I recommend getting a weapon skill over 5 and using the special attacks with it, then you won't need to block very much...

i do have a character that dual wields and is capable of combo attacks but i still do a lot of blocking when facing monsters that throw spells and/or breath fire such as the fiend who is found in the tomb of souls.

really? how do you get by without blocking? what about that firebreathing snake thing in the naga temple? if you get hit with the flames it throws you back while you're taking damage. i'd rather block the flames and hit him with my sword as soon as it stops breathing fire.
