Hello all,
I've played KOTOR I once, as a light side Rogue/Consular and loved it. Played BG I & II and NWN for the last 3 years. I've started KOTOR II and just left Peragus en route to Telos. The plot appears great so far, darker and more complex than KOTOR I. However most of the reviews say the ending (and thus, the storyline) really sucks, and I was wondering if I should play it...Am I going to regret spending 50 hours of my life playing this, or will the journey be worth it in the end? Thanks...
Newbie Question - Would you recommend this game?

Well, if it takes you 50 hours to complete it, then, yeah, you'll be upset.
It's worth playing. If nothing else, then just as a companion to the first one.
Would I recommend you pay $50 for it? No. Would I let you borrow my copy if you were a friend? Sure.

It isnt the greatest game in the world but like Superdude said it worth playing just b/c it a sequal to the first one. And if KOTOR III is any better then the 2 one then you would want to play this one so the story lines make sence. but I wait for a friend to get it b/c its not worth the money. Stupid game makers had to wreck what could have been another Game Of The Year.

I've played through kotor 2 4 times all as a lightside female. I actually played through the end sequence twice! I've just started a game as a lightside male and am really intrigued by the difference in the relationships between the Exile and those around him as compared to as a female. Once I finish this playthrough, I will play again as a darkside character... at least once.
I think I love this game so much because the characters are so interesting to me. None of them are cliche, though they all do have some cliches built into them that make them endearing. Also, there are so many little things throughout the game that make it very enjoyable to play.
All that being said, the ending did leave me wanting more. Even if it were just one last scene that tied up some of the loose ends. But as soon as the ending credits rolled, I didn't walk away in a huff, no, I reloaded it and started over again. Ok, so I'm obsessed... I am hoping that one day we will get either a content update or a sequel. But until then, I'll just read some more fanfic.

Oh yeah this game is certinally worth playing the dark side end is better than the light side but the ends are still not all that good. I played it about 19 times before getting bored of it so that might answer this.
