I've been playing a couple of weeks, and I am experiencing frequent crashes. The game simply locks up, and neither the mouse or keyboard responds. No error messages, and CTRL-ALT-DEL will not restart. Sound occurring at the time of crash enters a loop and repeats until I restart using reset. I've updated BIOS, drivers, installed patches, etc. Have Athlon 1.3G, nVidia Ge
Force 200 MX. Sound built into motherboard. Any suggestions? It's very time consuming to restart so often.

I had some similar problems when I first acquired my new computer (which is very similar to yours) about four months ago. Then I got some newer drivers, and the problems stopped.

I get the same thing with my computer. If, like me, you can't afford to upgrade, then try turning the music off. You really don't miss it all that much, and it reduces the frequent crashes by at least half.
It could also be worth getting Kevin D's patch to stop that annoying "You must gather your party..." sound effect.
