need help with "repairing"

i have a damaged shield and went to a shop to get it repaired, but no $$ deducted from my a/c, and the shield is still damaged. anyone know why? pls

at the moment, repair in the game does not work. hopefully this will be rectified in a future patch.

all you have to do is go to the same place you got that shield and use it til you defeat an opponent. I'm sure it was pretty easy to get the shield you got so when you defeat him before you pick up any items that he dropped after you killed him walk away from where you are at get your item screen up right click on the shield and drop it then go back and pick up the shield that your opponent dropped and you'll notice that his wasn't damaged. You can do this everytime your shield gets damaged. The shields get stronger as you progress in the game.
