How do you get pass the chess puzzle in the Shadow Ruins?

Having a little trouble with this one. Can anyone help me out?

For every action there is a reaction ... note the colors on the blocks correspond to colors in the Chessmen. Also note that touching a square moves the corresponding Chessman. Further note that if you come within one block of a CHessman he becomes active and gives you ~11000 XP

So you need to dance around carefully to clear a path ...

This was posted recently by Phaet. It worked for me, so I guess it is the solution for all. The following is actually a combination of 2 posts he made.

But the next riddle... that crazzy (chess) game... I can give you an answer for that. It's pretty easy but anoying. Area look like that:
1 2 3 4
A [] [] [] []
B [] [] [] []
C [] [] [] []
D [] [] [] []

Now step on:
D1 C1 C2 C3 D3 D2 D1 C1 C2 B2 A2
at least I think so

I found a faster combination which worked for me:

D2 D3 D2 C2 B2 A1

Col A :: Red Semi Circle
Col B :: Blue 7 Rune
Col C :: Yellow Y Rune
Col D :: Orange 9 Rune

An attack will initialize when you step on a rune that moves a chess man within one spot of yourself. You can move right next to them and what attack them as you want, as long as the rune you moved on doesn’t move another piece within one rune of yourself.

My quickest route found was the following:

OK to use this as start point. Pedistal is at the point behind B,C. Sword at otehr end. I did A1, A2,A1,A2,b2,b3,b4 and that seemed to work for me.
