Hey all, just finished the game and saw the whole gamut of monsters in Dungeon Lords, and was wondering what everyone's opinions are of the monsters. What monster was the most annoying/toughest/strangest/coolest in your opinion? No bosses please, they are special cases.
For me:
Most Annoying Award: TIE - Spiders and wolves.
-These creatures spawned ALL THE TIME. Spiders and wolves were fast and attacked in droves! The wolves would always knock me around and the spiders always poisoned me! God I hated them.
Easiest Fight Award: Thieves.
-Every fight I had with thieves, they couldn't do jack. Rats are harder simply because they come in bigger groups. A lot bigger.
Hardest Fight Award: Harrowbark Fiends.
-These trees have a lot of health and every hit throws you around. Plus they always spawn in fairly big groups. The smallest group of them I've fought was of 4 trees, and the biggest was 9 (!). And no, that wasn't at the Tree Guardians at the Sea of Woe. Besides, these trees are scary looking.
Coolest Creature Award: Naga Queen.
-I know, I broke my own rule here, but I've just got to. That Queen was awesome. Big, four arms, the taunting speech, everything about her was cool. The environment added greatly too, it was dark and weird, running around those ruins.
Strangest Creature Award: Chunnellers.
-What the hell is a chunneller? They are just WEIRD. They've got that weird spiky club-tongue, three eyes they blink in succession, and a strange round, chunky body with stubby legs. Their name too, chunneller, is weird.
Dungeon Lords Monster Awards
I haven't finished the game yet, but for me the most annoying enemy is the banshee. If I see a couple of those coming for me, I just load. It isn't worth the effort to kill them.
My favorite enemy is the troll. It's big and dumb and worth a lot of experience.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

The most annoying would be wolves, as they kept spawning during travels.
The most worthless would be killer bees (who design this anway?), not to mention those piranha fish... dooh...
The hardest to kill so far is fire drakes (as I haven't finish the game)
I have to admit the naga queen is cool, but somehow her abilities are quite weak I'd say.

Yeah, you gotta love those trolls. They've got a peculiar fashion sense; every trolls' got those chains hanging off his wrists.
Heh, I forgot about pirahnas and bees... I always ignore pirahnas until I get surrounded by the buggers, then it takes just one fireball to kill off all but one or two.
I would pick fire drakes as being the toughest if they came in groups. Fortunately they don't.
Oh, when I fought the Queen, I didn't have the gas mask, so I spent most of the time coughing or running away from those clouds.

Hardest monsters are those damned Nymphs. They keep paralyzing you and then that gas *hell* it's boring, and they summon an army of monsters too.
Terrible and annoying.
Rock Chunnelers also are quite hard, mostly because they cast that buzzing insects spell wich prevents you from doing *anything*, even drinking a potion.
Skeletons are cool, they look like decomposed.
I didn't like Naga Queen: too banal.

Coolest/Hardest Critters
I find the Fire Drakes (Dragons) to be the hardest.
The Trees are pretty durable as well.
The bees and wolves are a pain in the keyster because there are always so many. Especially when I am low on Anti Poison remedy (potion).
I did not have too hard a time with the Naga Queen. I had her cornered, reducing her movement. I used a huge studded mace and blade of baal potion to kick her "A_ _".
It took me a while to get into this game because I have spent years with Flight Sims and recent years with 1st person shooters. But years ago I used to play Dungeons and Dragons. So this game turned out to be very similar and extremely interesting. I am about 2/3rds the way through the game which has taken me almost 2 weeks (but I am a bit slow learning this kind of game).
All in all, I really like the game. I only wish the programmers would hurry up with the update patches (as we all know are long overdue).
