I would never use a product like that.Originally posted by Buck Satan:

In a world of rapidly declining internet revenue, people who use ad killers are only shooting themselves in the foot, in my opinion. As more people use them, sites like GameBanshee will be unable to pay their bills. Therefore, the only alternative will be charging money for the site or closing down. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather surf a site and get free content with a few ads then pay a monthly charge for every site I want to visit. And who wants a good site to shut down? That doesn't help anyone.
It's really a shame that the internet is in the predicament that it is. And it's an even bigger shame that companies are making money selling software that kills ads and basically steals money from hardworking webmasters.[/QB]
How bad can pop ups be?
You just lick the "x" and thats it or you check out the link.

So how does all this Internet advertising work? I have no practical experience in dealing with ads, and if I started doing so, I'd rather do it in a way that doesn't hurt the sites I like...
Do you get money for simply displaying an ad? For showing a pop-up? Or does someone have to click it before it generates any revenue whatsoever?
What happens should I use a firewall to keep images from certain well-known ad URLs out of my computer? Would that bite GameBanshee's revenue?
Furthermore, did I understand correctly that me clicking 1000 ads nets GameBanshee $1.00 or something? I'd much rather donate that amount than spend my time clicking 1000 ads, personally.
Just trying to think along...

Yes they do. And I will use a pop-up killer on any site that tries this with me. One I can handle, but when I close it out, I don't 5 or more opening.Originally posted by rapier:

There are other ways to keep the site up besides pop-up's....This is why I'm being so difficult.Originally posted by ThorinOakensfield:
Man, why do people have to be so difficult. If they want the site to stay than go with the pop ups.
I find it a sad fact that out of 3000 members, Buck doesn't get more donations.
