dungeon lords does not load

I hope somebody can help me with this- I have installed DL, but when I try to load and play, all I get is a temporary black square, which lasts about two seconds, and then it disappears and nothing happens. I have downloaded patch 1.1, but that did nothing. I have a 1.8 Ghz computer with windows xp. I have asked at numerous places and nobody has any comments- the official web site for dreamcatchers has been of no help whatsoever. Thanks for any help whatsoever.

Go to your Start menu, select Run... type in dxdiag in the open field to bring up the direct X diagnostics tool thingy and double check under the display tab that DirectDraw, Direct3D, and/or the AGP Texture thingy are all enabled and working properly. I had a simiar problem when I first loaded the game on my machine due to some of these being disabled for some reason. I hope t's something simple like this for you as well. If it's not I have no clue how to help you, sorry.

Fiko- thanks you your reply- unfortunately (or fortunately) everything is enabled and seems to be working properly- so my problem here does not seem to lie in that direction. Thanks again though for your reply and for your effort.
