Is there any way of freeing the people trapped in the Mirror of Life Trapping (on second level of Ice Temple) without them attacking you?

I don't think so. But it's not that hard to defeat them, just cast area spells that will block their moving.

I just use 4-6 fireballs in round one. Then the tanks whack whoever is left standing.
