Moving...

Post by Ideal Maxima »

Well, I'm moving from NYC.

I've lived here for about 8 years, and now I move to Long Island... :(

I'm going to leave behind a lot of friends... a lot of happy memories... I don't want to leave them behind... :(

Has anyone else dealt with this situation? Being forced to move and leave your friends behind?

(btw, I'll still be on the forums :) )

I have yes. I moved exactly 1 town over, and my whole life changed. :(

Hopefully it won't change all that much for you. I went from redneck farm town to upper class yuppie town. SO who knows. Might go better for you. Good luck with it. :p

Know the feeling well. I actually can't remember how many schools I attended as a child. Moving is pretty rough on kids, and I empathise with how you feel.

Yeah, when I was 9, my family moved from NY to CA. Everything went downhill from there, for about 7 or 8 years. I dunno, it must be the liberal upbringing that kids in this state get that caused me to find nothing but so-called friends with no values and who would turn on me if the winds of popularity shifted in another direction. You're a lot older than I was, so you're probably strong enough to deal with whatever happens. I lived in emotional darkness until i found my spirituality and my purpose in life. Everything happens for a reason though, and I think that if I had stayed in the boring town I lived in, I would've grown up a spineless follower like most teenagers, getting into drugs and sex and all that. If i hadn't moved, i wouldn't have gone through the trials that have made me the strong person I am today. So don't feel too bad, cuz you'll probably look back on the move someday and it will make more sense as to why it happened (at least I hope). :)

Just remember not to to dwell on them too much. Try and see it as an exciting opportunity to meet some new people ;)

Hey, what can I say? I'm a rollin' stone. (what's that song say about a rolling stone gathers no moss) But anyway, I moved when I was 4. From Trumbull,CT to Sharon, NH, back in 1989. That's like a 2 and a half hour drive up the interstate. THAT was a doozie. Anyway I spent the next 15 years or so there, in Sharon. I moved to CA and HI with an ex boyfriend of mine for about a year or so back around 2003. 'Twas really cool. Then we broke up and I came back to NH. Last September (04) I moved from Sharon to Harrisville/Dublin about 15-20 miles away. It's been a bit rough, but good for me. I am moving very soon, again. At the end of June. I still ldo not know exactally where, but around here somewhere. I'll stay around at friend's houses, or in a tent, until my mom settles in a house...
Moving is hard in a lot of ways, ya gotta find a new way to survive. But for me, I appreciate blending in with society and learning new things about how people live in different parts of the country. Good luck to anyone else that's moving.
