Since ToB isn't out in Europe yet, I can't really tell, but I guess that imp(Casparnar, Caspar, whatever...) can upgrade old weapons too if you have the parts?!

I believe most of the items in Tob will make the items one finds in Shadows of Amn obsolete. Also I believe I read that once you go into the Add-in section of Tob you will not be able to return to the Shadows of Amn portion of the map (except for watchers keep). That is why I posted a topic on Misc items to take with my party before going to the Add-in section of TOB. So once you finish shadows of Amn and head into TOB you will not be able to access cromwell base on the above.

P.S
For those have played TOB: Please confirm or denied this from experience as I am still in Shadows of Amn portion.)

I would upgrade all the items that cromwall can upgrade in shadows of Amn before heading to Tob just in case.

All weapons and items from SoA is (should be, because I haven't got ToB yet, so can't confirm) available in ToB. Meaning you can carry them into ToB, so no, the Crom Faeyr is still available for use; you just have to make it before going to ToB, because you can't go back.

Except perhaps for the very cheesy ones. That'll be the stuff you have on you, of course. It'll probably take a while before you find a worthy replacement for the Cloak of Mirroring (even though it has been nerfed in ToB), the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, the Ring of Gaxx, the Staff of the Magi, or Crom Faeyr. That means about half your inventory.

Right Xyx, It ultimately winds down to what you want to keep or acquire that is available after conquests.
I think I may take a peek at the equiptment item list available for a party in TOB to acquire. This way I could allocate my weapon proficiency slots for my party more effectively for the weapons in TOB.

I HATE what they did to the Cloak of Mirroring! Not only does fail to reflect things back now but that damn forcefield makes it impossible to see your character! *Grrr*
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

To Kayless

Akin to looking at a character who equips cloak of displacment? Which is more of an eyesore?
 But I bet your character looks just marrvelous when you can see him right? :p

I had no problems with not doing everything at Cromwells forge...after SoA, some of those items that were created at the forge became a part of my inventory...for example the mana bow was in my inventory already made. I assume that the same would occur for other forge items. Also, Caspenar can make a lot of weapons that you find upgradable. For instance Carsomyr will become +6 instead of +5.

@ Kayless & Lorsadan:

The bad thing about the Cloak or Mirroring is that you can hardly see what's behind your character as well

I don't mind it being cheesed down, but why mess with the visuals? I hope Kevin Dorner or some other kind soul fixes that one before I install ToB...

That freaking forcefield blows chunks! A sample scene from ToB:
Aerie: “Look out! A dragon!”
Me: “What’s that? Who’s talking? I can’t see more than a foot past my face!”
*Dragon steps on me*
Me: “OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!” *Squish*
Minsc: “Fear not! I will save you! GO FOR THE EYES BOO!” *Pushes the dragon off of me*
Aerie: "Are you okay?"
Me: “My lung! It’s flopping all over the dirt! ...Damn.”

You get the picture. ;) :D

Wow I didn't know Minsc was that Strong!! :D Must have been an Invisible baby Dragon right? :D

To The Dude:
Yes, you should be able to keep those items from shadows of Amn in TOB, No you won't find those exact items again in TOB if you did not take them with you from shadows of Amn. (Logically speaking of Course.)

Since so many people hates the new Cloak of Mirroring, has anyone tried editting it so it looks like - and/or does what - it did in SoA?

To the Dude

Yeah, the transition should be fine, Once you defeat Irenicus again in Shadows of Amn with your party then your final save with that party will be created. This final save would transport the characters that you have and whatever they are carrying to TOB's add-in section.
If you are just exporting a character from a character file to ToB with items, I do not know if those items you pick in shadows of Amn would stay with you. The Tob manuel does say that they will give any new character generated to start TOB a bag of holding with items. I would also think that party members you can access in TOB will have some items on them. But I'm still in shadows of Amn so I'm just writing from what I have read and what would be logical to me.
