Lord Plothos or Galuf,
I have the patches but have struggled along without installing them because I was worried it might wreck the existing game. Do either of you know if that is the case? Or if it won't hurt to do so? I have taken a break from the game (primarily because of the bugs) but want to get going again.
Sorry to ask what seems like a repeat question, this was in my "Need Advice About Buying Thread" but was among 3 or 4 other questions in the same post and guess it got overlooked. I checked the patch sticky and didn't see anything conclusive.
Thanks for the Help!!

I don't think that either patch 2 or temple.zip have problems with previous saved games, so I'd say go ahead. You can always back up the save file and if something gets messed up go back to your previous setup. The game's not worth playing without at least those two patches.
As for the other patches, I can't really say how dangerous they are in this regard.

I found that Moebius' Temple.dll* does need a new game file to take effect, so as a precaution I would suggest starting a new game.
(Note: *= Any difference between this and Temple.zip, Lord Plothos?)

I call it temple.zip because temple.dll is only one of several files you need to put into your game directory, and I try to avoid confusing people. Maybe I'm having the opposite effect?
Out of curiosity, what was your problem? I installed temple.zip on top of several saves, and they all ran just fine afterwards. Did you by any chance have some metamagic going on? I had forgotten this can be messed up by this fix.

Nope. It was that case that I PMed you about to learn the benefits of the Moebius fix (Remember that?). Spell effect kept acting stuck no matter what, so I had no choice.

Still Need Help Please!!
Galuf or Plothos,
I tried applying the offical Atari patch 2 (and just that) to start with. When I tried to run ToEE it keeps asking for the "Play" disc. But when I put the disc in, it still keeps asking for it. I checked the patches sticky and saw that bariumdose had the same problem. I saw that it was resolved but didn't get a clear picture as to what fixed it. The inference was that DirectX9.0 was the culprit but my machine is a 3 month old Dell with XP and I am fairly certain that my version of DirectX is 9.0, I will confirm that tonight but I am stumped for the moment. Did I miss something in the sticky, is there another answer?
Thanks for the help!!

This is a problem that seems to be getting more and more common for some reason. It could be the newer versions of directx or something else entirely. Try uninstalling/reinstalling with all the right patches, make sure the disc is the correct one, and that it's clean and unscratched. After that, check all the drivers for your cd-drive, etc.. If the problem still hasn't been fixed, there is a way to fix the problem that I can't really discuss here. It's legal to use for your problem, but can be easily used for illegal purposes, and gamebanshee discourages any discussion of it. If you can't tell what I'm talking about by now, you could try asking this question over at co8. They're less squeamish.

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to see exactly which version I have tonight. I didn't want to make my last post too lengthy but after the patch didn't work, I uninstalled ToEE. I checked the folder and found some files left over (from the date I would suppse them to be from the patch and deleted them as well. I then reinstalled ToEE and the game again worked (as well as the original "bugged" version does). I had not applied the temple.dll from temple.zip yet, do you think loading both before trying to run will help? I wanted to try to run ToEE first with just the patch to make sure it took correctly. I never dreamed that the game wouldn't run after applying a patch from its maker!?!
