Why does Hold Animal not works vs Yuan-Ti?

My druid has a level3 hold spell called Hold Animal. Why doenst it work vs Yuan-TI. What are some priest spells that can be used to disable some Yuan-TI?

Maybe Yuan-Tis are considered humanoids, not animals.

First - Yuan-ti is not an animal, neither is humanoid. Second - it has spell resistance. I suggest use of Hold monster.

I thought i read somewhere that the Yuan-Ti are decendants from the creators.... Aha i think i heard that playing NWN or one of the expansions..... (rambling thoughts) I think Yuan-Ti would be considered a reptilic humanoid? because they have the upper torso of a human and bottom half as a snake.

Just my thoughts...
