Final Irenicus

Post by DurosKlav »

How do i beat this guy? He seems to have unlimited power protecting himself against spells and such has a huge magic resistance while in his slayer form but when i go into my form he's still always able to hit me with his spells and my control always starts slipping on my slayer and i lose massive amounts of HP but i never see it happening to him WTF?

Thats because he stole your soul and learned how to control the bhall essence so he can shift to the slayer and not take any side effects. Use a huge amount of breaches on him. The first time I beat him I had Aerie and Imoen both casting breaches. I had Imoen cast Breach and Aerie cast Pierce Magic first round, second I had Aerie Breach and Imoen Ruby Ray of reversal. I was doing that round after round as my tanks kept pounding on him. If you have Keldorn, use his dispel ability and then pound on him.

If you just want to Breach & whack him, you don't have to bother taking down his spell protections. Breach goes right through all of those (save for Spell Shield, but that only stops the first).

And remember he casts mislead. So have some one cast true sight. Keldorn does the trick nicely, but clerics do aswell.

I sounds to me like the final battle with him is hard but did anyone find the battle with him at spellhold difficult? When I faced him at spell hold he didn't stand a chance he fled before he could get a spell in. I just held him and have everyone wack him.

the only time irenicus is hard is ad the tree of life, becose then it's the only time is is serieusly casting spells.
In Hell it aint hard, beating the crap out of his Demons is eas with the Blackrazor. and Irenicus goes down with it too.
just have your treu sight availeble and beat him with alkl your great weapons.
The Whip is a great spell to cast allong with lower resistance.
with those 2 no irenicus will stand.

Ah, the tree of life fight..

The guy just stood there. My Kensai / Thief put five traps around him when he was in trance. When he snapped out of it to start fighting he had a nice suprise called 'instant death' waiting for him.

And now don't you people start a cheese lecture on me. If your mortal enemy is standing still and you know he'll probably start picking a fight with you in the near future, why wouldn't put some traps near him if you've got that ability?

I always wonder where those Thieves get those Insta-Traps(TM)... ;) Setting up elaborate, extremely damaging yet perfectly hidden traps should take at least a couple of hours, right?

From the looks of it, thieves set bear-clamp like traps. I suppose they carry them around, lay them on the ground and hide them. That shouldn't take too long, especially if you are an expert. And remember, game time is six times real time.

OK, dude this one was totaly easy and somewhat disapointing and i only did it cuz i wanted to finish my damn paladin...so this is what you do,first let him talk and then when thats over run all of your people in differnt directions....have all the summoning spells ready and go a it
Just summon so many he will be overwhelmed and wont be able to fight back if you stay away he'll fall totaly w/o you taking a scratch.! :D
I do not fear death, just a painful one

He is pretty tough at the end if your a magic heavy group. If your a melee heavy he goes down fast. Try summoning/hasteing some decent monsters.

Probably wont work when he's in slayer but wont hareshakers and nabassus (them spell sucker summons) be good against him. I'm thinking more along the lines of the tree of life here.

Summon, use scrolls, set up contingencies, use all your items (Staff of Fire/Air/Earth etc), and most importantly: clone. ;)

Very effective near-Cheese strategy: The area around the big door has some permanent Farsight on it, none of the enemies can see the invisible, and Irenicus never casts True Sight. If you can get your whole party invisible (Invisibility 10' Radius, Pixie Dust or Mass Invisibility), you can simply march out of there, find some quiet corner, prepare all you like, send in your summons and charge the bunch en masse.
