Does SoU and HotU change the original NWN campaign?

Post by Astafas »

I'm thinking of buying SoU and HotU (and later Pirates...). Will they change the original NWN campaign in some way, should I choose to go through that one once more?

The only changes SoU and HotU does is add more skills and classes to the game. THey don't change the original modules other content.

Also be aware that not all of the skills which are added into the game are infact workable in NwN, so while you can take them they have no effect. Others work as they will.

I will think that if Pirates add anything new to the game it will do it in the same manner as SoU and HotU, so there should be nothing at all to fear. :)

So does that mean that the prestige classes will be available in NWN as well then?

Are any of the henchmen from the expansions available in the original campaign as well?

Is there a list of which skills/feats that work "retroactively" in NWN, and which don't? Would be a shame to waste the points.

Prestige classes are accessible from NwN yes.
Henchmen, no.

Extra content

A few of the crafting skills will be pretty useless and you probably won't be able to find the materials.

I already had SoU and HotU when I went through NwN, and when I fought the Golems in Ch3 they contained Steel Bars. So you can find materials too.

I think you can only find materials after killing creatures, as long as your skill is high enough. Eventually you can get leather hides from wolves. However you cannot bash containers and doors to get wood or other things. :(

You get to use the new feats. I played through original NWN as a Monk and Circle Kick is a SoU-only feat... it came in handy!
