Is this game worth it. I've read all the reviews i could b/c I was interested in the idea of this game, but all the reviews trashed it for having tons of bugs, missing or non-workung features and graphics problems. After it's had some patches are these issues fixed? And will it run on a machine with 1.5 GHz processor, 64 Mb graphics card and 512 Mb Ram?

It will prolly run on that. For a gamer person who just enjoys any RPG, this is for you. If you're a True Roleplayer, then no. I wouldn't reccommend it. My thoughts anyway.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

If your a role playing fan who doesn't mind paying primium prices to play a beta version of an unfinished game I say go for it. The game plays well. It is just unfinished and it shows. I have been playing it for 3 weeks now and have started my 4th game only because there aren't any new RPG's being made. Desperate times means desperate players. The reviews are correct in the incompleteness of the game but incorrect in the game not being fun. Your system should run the game. Memory is cheap. Boosting your RAM could lengthen your machines life buy a considerable amount.
Check Your graphics Card
Make sure you are not using Intel Graphic Chipsets... they are not compatible with the game.
I baught the game, was really looking forward to it. Then found out my factory furnished graphic chipset didnt match and could not launch the game.
Ended up buying, a All in Wonder ATI 128mb Graphics card, (which included dual monitor support), and a second monitor for kicks.
Woohoo, I got to launch and play a game with tons of bugs (which most have been corrected since then).
The game is very fun to play, and the second screen rocks to no end. So YES it is worth it... but be ready to spend a little money if you have Onboard Intel Chipset as your graphics card.

I definitely think that it is worth it. Even with all the bugs, it's the best game, I have played for ages. By that I mean that I don't remember enjoying any game that much recently.
Other than awful collision issues with various characters getting stuck in mid-air, walls, etc. quite often, I didn't encounter any bugs. The main problem is that certain parts of the game (eg. customizing your appearance, repairing your equipment, certain skills) haven't been implemented.
On the other hand, certain aspects are really polished and well thought through. I enjoy the overall atmosphere, little things like grass and trees looking great, gradual shift from day to night, the fact that monsters only drop what they have. So you can only get gold from humanoids and the only weapons/armour which monsters will drop is the one they carry.
The advancement system is the best part of the game, allowing you to gradually increase skills and attributes as you go along. Furthermore, other than choosing the initial profession from the four available, you can add four others in the course of the game.
All in all, the game has got insane potential, and even though it hasn't been fulfilled, simply because it's not finished, it's still lots of fun.

In fact, this is the game I was ever waiting for !
It is so much fun to raise your skills and fill up your magic spellbooks.
Further you have to kill tons of Monsters and other opponents in a real great world with different kinds of magic, I have never seen before!
I have played all the RPGs like Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Spellforce and so on, but no game was so much fun than THIS!
It is true that the release came too soon, but since V1.3 several bugs are gone and the automap is working. Remember that the updating process is forthgoing and V1.4 is about to be released...Then it should be approximatly finished!
(hoping to get some more Spells, especially (Boon)Runemagic).
The performance bugs are not that often than you think....
True is, that the game leaks 2 to 3 seconds if there are opponents arriving, but if this happens you will know that they are about to come and you will be ready to advance! The second bug was a heavy slowdown in Fargrove after walking arround in wilderness for several hours....but can easiely be fixed by saving and reloading the game - that`s all!
I will hope that this "falsestart" will not have effect to the budgets of eventually further versions, addons or a second part of Dungeon Lords.
After adding a padcontrol option for our console-freaks this game could get a real bestseller!
If there is ever coming a second part, they should start an intensive betaversion testphase with the active users of the Forums. Demos are´nt as effective as betaversions.... the whole questpathes have to be tested!
But when I watch the creditscreen I am really wondering about the high amount of betatesters...what have they done? I think they have never played the whole game or used a trainer,
However, we will do it for them!
To answering your question I`m remembering a sentence from (not so) good old times:
"...a game worth playing is a game worth buying..." Amiga4ever!
So, You have to decide if several hours (weeks) of fun are worth the 40$.

Wow that was alot of excellent comments. In my opinion 39.99 isnt to much so if u like rpg's then go ahead and get this. But before u play it download the patches. I have a pentium 3 550 with a geforce 4 MX card and it works fine. I had no problems. And if u do just turn the video options to minimum.
Now when Elderscrolls Oblivion comes out, thats when i'm gonna need my comp upgraded hehe.

Mad_Suxx, unless you're privy to information the rest of us don't know about, this is simply speculation. Worse than that, it's inaccurate speculation, since Heuristic has already stated 1) the 1.4 patch will be done when it's done, and 2) it will not include any graphical elements--in other words, one of the original features "offered" with the game, character customization, will not be provided. They have not added any other information about what will be included, so all statement about its "being finished" is just opinion, not fact.
While you and I are both entitled to our opinions, when somebody asks about whether a game is worth the purchase, it's only fair to give them facts--not opinions disguised as fact.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
As long as were spreading praise. I must add that beside the great leveling system of this RPG the AI has a unique feature I have never seen in any game. If your being attacted by 6 enimies and you get some good licks in on the first one attacking you he will back off and one of the others will take his place. They each take some hits and then let a healthy mate take their place on the front. It is an interesting AI that I have never seen before. I really hope they continue to patch this game to completion. They could actually sell a complete game with an added city as a sequel.
heya bedwine, if you like that kind of AI then try the game Arx Fatalis (also by Jowood) has the same type of combat, only thing it has that i don't like is a no block option. U can equip a shield and it gives u +AC,Spellresist,-spellcast alot like Dungeons and Dragons if your into that kinda thing. But u can't block an attack....but seriously try it out.

It was also part of the old Ultima Underworld series, back in the mid-1990s. Simply put, if one AI-driven enemy is being beaten up, it will back off, and another will rush in. That's not a big deal. UU even allowed for hurt enemies to limp off the screen and return with reinforcements.

Thanks for the advive everybody. I don't care too much about graphics quality or things like chatracter appearance, so that's not really an issue. One thing that might make a difference is the combat system. I've heard it's a lot like a FPS and action heavy. The thing is I'm not good at FPS or action/fighting games or games based on reflexes -- I'm disabled and can't keep up too well with that kind of gameplay. I did OK with Morrowind, but i understand that combat system was based on stats and not timing. i guess my question is: would DL be too hard for me? I know this will be hard to answer. Maybe if you compare it to Morrowind...
Thanks in advance for any help.

I also have problems with combat-intensive, realtime games. Morrowind is my speed: you hit a key, you swing your weapon. Usually, you deal with one, maybe two, adversaries at once. Unfortunately, in DL you're constantly encountering mobs, groups of 4 or more creatures that attack at one time. I personally think it's in lieu of fashioning good combat AI--just stick a bunch of attackers around the PC, instead--but that's simply my opinion. What isn't my opinion, what is fact, is that it feels a lot like a 3D Diablo.

I am not disabled but games like doom 3 were just too damned hard. Somehow game developers think it is fun to get frustrated. It has always been a pet peeve of mine. I don't want to spend ten years learing to play the damn thing. Flight Sims were ruined when they took the arcade style out of them. How many games easy settings actually are "easy" by the way?
As for DL the combat is realatively easy on the low settings. It has an enemy respawn that can be frustrating at first but it can also be turned down. Pausing the game for a few seconds or just looking at your stats can trigger a respawn. You soon realize it is necessary to get experience points so later in the game you may decide to turn it up for a while to get more experience points. Even though using a sheild to block blows and spells works I have found by just clicking the mouse, moving side to side and forward at the enemy while taking health potions is quicker. There are other techniques posted that work well also. Some of the monsters such as bats and bees are just put there to be a major annoyance. One thing in this game is that you can out run every creature in it. There are spots that you can get to safely and plumet enemies with arrows or throwing knives and they can't reach you. The first Celestrial Tower has a stairway that enemies don't follow you so you can turn the settings on high to get massive high XP enemies to get points from early in the game if your so inclined. All and all I would say the game should be easy for a disabled person if they have use of or compensated themselves for both hands.

I have a laptop - Intel Centrino 1.3 Ghz and GeForce FX Go 5200 64MB. And the game works well anyway. Shadows I still on, I just turned the grass/trees detail down to 45. Sometimes it freezes for a second (usually when it loads new mobs) but overall it works without major problems.

You can run program but why?
Your computer will run it if it doesnt have intel on board graphics, but even with new version 1.3 patch out it still is nearly unplayable by gaming standards. Cant believe I was duped into buying this. Stick with Half Life 2 it is absolutely awesome and no major bugs. Yes You can actually play it right from the box!!!! Unlike dungeon lords most games do try to give value to their customers. No, in my opinion, it is DEFINITLY not worth it.
