Who would Win?
Who would Win?
Out of a maximum Level Minsc and a Maximum Level Sarevok, who would win? Consider this that they are only wielding a Non-Magiclal Two Handed Sword, not taking into consideration Proficiencies.
My money is for Sarevok.

Sarevok has some big advantages over poor Minsc. First, at his maximum level (34 ranger) Minsc had 164 HP. Sarevok at his max (level 40 fighter) had 225 HP. That’s a big difference. Second, Sarevok can get Grand Mastery (5 proficiency slots) while Minsc can only get Specialization (two slots). This gives Sarevok +2 to hit, +3 to damage, and -1 to speed factor compared to Minsc’s +1 to hit and +2 to damage. And finally you have to take into account Sarevok’s Deathbringer Assault that lets him do 200 critical hits as well as his talent for sometimes stunning his opponent. Minsc’s berserk ability protects him against the stunning but not the Deathbringer Assault (if Sarevok scores one in the duel it’s an instant kill). Of course I had to test my conclusions, so I had them duel repeatedly with identical equipment. First I had them just hack each other, then I let Minsc use his berserk. After that I had them use Special Abilities like Greater Whirlwind. The only times Minsc won was when Sarevok had bad luck and rolled a critical miss. After around twenty battles Sarevok had only lost about four or five fights.
Korgan is much closer to Sarevok in HP and proficiency ratings but in the preliminary fights I conducted with them (with Korgan dual wielding axes) Sarevok still comes up ahead. All in all Sarevok is far superior to the other hand-to-hand NPCs in the game. Now I know why I love the guy.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

From level 10 up a warrior gets 3 HP, the other classes get less.Originally posted by ReignsOfPower:
Concerning Hit Points.
Are hit Points rolled randomly? I have noticed every level Minsc gets 3 Hit Points. I remeber in BG1 I used to re-load many times trying to get a high roll for hit points. Is BG2 the same as Icewind dale in which maximum Hit Points are given every level?
Below level 10 a warrior rolls a d10 for HP, if you have difficulty set to core rules.
With difficulty set to normal he gets the maximum 10 HP.
Same goes for other classes, but they get less then 10 HP.
BG1 had only the core rules setting, so you needed to reload a lot.

"Everybody wants to see justice done, to somebody else."
That's the part I'm not sure about. I usually don't play multi or dualclasses so I'm not sure how the levels are handled with them.Originally posted by ReignsOfPower:
[QB]Since the fighter is level 8, wouldn't the 1 h.p. per level apply at level 3 mage? Not sure.QB]
If what you said aplies, it would be:
(8*10+8*5)+(2*4+12*1+14*2)=168 maximum
"Everybody wants to see justice done, to somebody else."
OK, no more lessons, just an experiment.
Created a fighter used CLUAConsole to get him to level 8.
Dualed to mage ran him up to level 14, the results:
[8*10+8*5](fighter part) +8*0(no HP advancment before first class is regained) +[2*4+2*2](reached level 10 here) +4*1(four final levels)=136 HP
that's without familiars and/or other equipment.
