As far as I can tell, they never did. It's a truism in the game industry that you never release in the "dead times" of the year, and one of those is the summer. The strongest time to release a game is "the holiday season" which apparently these days starts in late Septermber; the second strongest is the April-June timeframe.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

That's quite stupid, all the gamers have to wait all the summer. At last vacation
no bloody university and now nothing to play grrrrr. No Oblivion no Rome Total War Datadisk. Shall we bore as to death? And sociologist are asking why the
kids drugs during the summer vacation? Damn they are bored!

Well, they could write novels. Learn new skills. Get laid. Learn a language. Go abroad. Join a club. Learn a musical instrument.
It's amazing as quickly boredom vanishes when people learn to amuse themselves, rather than expecting to find amusement, elsewhere.

Ummm, dude, remember how good the last ES was. Well, I'd happily wait if need be till 2007 for it to come out if they perfect it the way they need it to be. Patience is indeed a virtue, specially with a kick arse game like Elder Scrolls.
Why don't you go play Elder Scrolls 3, again if you have already, then again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again till your hearts content.
Games like these are totally worth the wait.

It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

I was just pissed off, I have to do my BA work anyway, so now I'm spending more time reading Deng Xiaoping.
@ Siberys,
Play Morrowind again - no thank you - played it all and I mean all quests factions etc and I did it 4 times.
