Hidden meanings in Fallout 2

Post by LoneRider »

I just notice a new "hidden meaning" and thought it would be nice to gather them all together. What hidden meanings have you found from the game? I'm meaning some kind of references to a movie, book, anything for example in dialogues. There are so much of them of course, but I bet some of them are so cryptic, only few found a reference.
This one is maybe one of those....

I just spotted a line, which was said by Cassidy (those texts middle of the gameplay).
"My father named me after some guy from a pre-war comic. That guy was some son of a *****" (or something like that). If I'd see this one about an year ago I wouldn't understand it. I think this one means a comic book "Preacher" where Cassidy was a-son-of-a-***** vampire. A great comic and founding this line from the game made me soooo happy :)

If you know more of these not-so-easy-to-find things, post them here.

There are several "Special Encounters", that refers to such, "hidden meanings". The Bridge of Death, and King Arthur and his Knights are from a Monty Python Movie called: "Monthy Python and The Holy Grail". Extremely funny movie BTW.

At the same time, while the vault city medical data base computers were talking to each other, one of them say "danger! will robinson", that was from "lost in space" movie as far as I can remember... and

"we hear the battle song" or "sulik hears the battle song" I cant exactly remember, must be from Steinback's "Pearl" novel.

In New Reno, when you give Renesco some new glasses, he asks what you want in return for them. Then you have the option of saying: Someday, and that day might never come, i might call upon you for you to do a service for me. Untill then, accept this as a gift on my daughters wedding day.

Thats DEFINITELY from Mario Puzo's The Godfather.
