More Romance Subplot Questions **SPOILERS**

Post by valmont23 »

**SPOILER**

I should note that I'm still working through my first complete play-through and am playing a male charachter. [I'm currently on Manaan, having collected 3 of 5 of the star maps] I wondered if there might be a romance angle from kind of early on, which of course was borne out by the conversation options that started appearing. I wasn't especially careful (read: guided) as I talked to Bastila, but generally talked to her often b/c I took her along practically everywhere, and also saw the forum here that mentioned her mother side-quest, and I wanted to get to the point where that would trigger. Beyond that, I chose supportive and attractive options since I was curious as to how things would play out.

Deciding as things progressed a bit futher to check out to find some more specific guidance since I had some time invested in it, I found a supposed 'play by play' guide for the Bastila/Carth romance thread elsewhere online. (See Here) It gives a list of 12 conversations you have with either charachter, and a general outline of what it discussed and what you should do in order to continue the romance thread. Near as I can tell, I've been able to make or beat the deadlines outlined there in order to keep the subplot going.

What I am curious about are the last two conversations. In "Conversation #11", it supposedly says Bastila confesses her love for you. The closest thing I can see to that is getting "the kiss" I've seen discussed elsewhere on this forum. While that scene and the accompanying exchange are pretty funny and kinda neat (minus the cut to black), it didn't exactly play out the way the guide lead me to believe. Supposedly, in "Conversation #12" Bastila confesses she's still in love with you and begs you to continue the quest if light side, or you're given the opportunity to tempt her if dark sided. The only other conversation I seem to be offered after the kiss scene & exchange is a 'we shouldn't discuss this right now, let's focus on the mission'.

So what I'm wondering is:
A) Is this conversation for the romance subplot outline accurate?
B) Did I somehow get my conversations/order mixed up?
C) Is "conversation #12" actually still to come?
D) Or did I screw it up earlier and the romance subplot is no longer playing out?

Thanks for the insight

First of all, let me say that you haven't missed the conversation, it is still to come. If you want more specifics highlight the stuff be low, but it will be a bit of a spoiler to you:
Spoiler:
After you retrieve the 4th of the 5 Star Maps, you will be captured by Malak and some pretty big plot stuff will be reveled. During a brief fight with Malak, you will be put in a stasis field and Bastila will come to your rescue. You and Carth will leave the ship, while Malak takes Bastila and tortures her.
When you next meet up with Bastila she will be a Dark Jedi. You'll have to chose if you want to join the darkside and be with her or fight her. If you want that last conversation, you have to fight her (apparently dark Jedi don't love). When she's beaten she will flee to the Star Forge and you will face her again just before you fight Malak. You want to save the game before this fight in case you mess something up (you'll see why in a second). During this fight you'll have several chances to talk to her and try to get her to come back to the light, hopefully you'll eventually get to tell her that you love her and she loves you and that you know she won't kill you even if you lower your defenses. She admits her love and tells you to go get Malak while she uses her Battle Meditation to help the Republic. However, if you don't get that option, it is possible to be forced into having to kill her (which really sucks if you spent a lot of time and effort working the romance sub-plot).
