How to place custom portraits

Post by Elorian »

Hey everyone!

I am new and just stepped in for the first time - and maybe anyone can help me.
I really can't find out, how to place my custom pictures into the game. Everyone says, that I have to copy them in the "install "directory and there in "portraits". But I don't have any file, that has the name install - nor the portrait directory...

Please help me - cause the ones in the game are really not my kind of taste... :D

I have already searched the forum, but I didn't find anything more usefull...

Thanx for your help

Welcome to the GB forums, Elorian!

This should help...
Go to your Baldur's Gate folder, probably under 'Program Files/Black Isle/Baldur's Gate'.
Look for a folder labelled 'portraits'. If there isn't one, right-click a create a new folder and name it portraits.
Put any portraits you want in that folder. To choose them in game, open your character sheet, click Customize then Portrait. The standard BG portraits should appear.
Click Custom to view a list of the ones in your portrait folder. Choose the ones you want.
This will only work for your character, not the others in the game that are members of your party.

Good luck :) .

Thanx you Ravager - I will try that out at once - cause I don't have any portrait-folder...
So I will go on creating one :-)

Hope it will work....

*nods* It should be fine. I remember it being confusing to get new portraits at first. Once you have a few though, it should be really easy. :p

Oh, you know that the portraits have to be a certain size, right?
And there's always two, for the character sheet and the side bar when you're playing.
