possible spoilers

when i crashed on the unknown world and tried to talk to my companions, there was nothing to say to them, except ask them to make me things or "nothing more for now" or something like that. i've hardly talked to them at all before, so there should be more to say to them. does this happen every time that you crash?

By the time you've crashed, you can't really do any of their sidequests so I imagine they don't see the point in talking to you now. I'm pretty sure that once you collect the last of the star maps and head for the Unknown world, the conversations with your NPCs are closed.
To be honest, I can't say for sure as I've always talked to them as much as possible as often as possible (cause I'm a good little friend who likes to play psychologist for the emotionally repressed/slightly unhinged people that make up my crew). I know for sure that if your doing the romance side quest you have to have completed it with Bastila before she's captured; I'm always a guy, but I imagine you have a little more time with Carth.
Anyway, if you wanted to talk to them, you should have thought of that before you crashed your ship on some water filled planet in the same solar system as an evil ship producing factory.
