I put spoilers in the title as answers to this question might contain them
Anyway, what are these buildings and can you get in them, are they part of a quest etc....
1) The big ugly place surrounded by gargoyles opposite the Venture Tower in Downtown.
2) The oriental place opposite the jewelry shop in Hollywood. It has a locked door that you can't lockpick.
Anyone have anymore.....
What are these places? (spoilers?)

1) No idea, but AFAIK it is not quest related and not named on any map. Eye candy I suppose.
2) Chinese Theatre (it is indicated on the map), check the "Gargoyle Removal Service" quest in the walkthrough if you want to know more about it. It IS quest related and a fairly important quest if you want the Camarilla ending.

Thanks, sorry it took so long to reply but I've been suffering from trojans all weekend
I've managed to do the Gargoyle quest. I was going to ask what the video cassette I found in there was for, but by the time I managed to get my network back up I'd worked it out. (Been playing in between bouts of reinstalling)
As for that big building downtown, nice eye candy, but it's a pity they couldn't do something with it.

Yeah, I spent the better part of a half hour trying to get in it. It seems like it should have been utilized for something. It seemed to me, that it might have been the original meeting place for LaCroix townhown that is showcased in the beginning of the game. But, I honestly don't know.

I found another 'What Is It?'
Don't know if this is the British version only, but on the back of the cd case there is a screenshot (well four actually, this is the top left one) of a woman in a red blouse, wearing a cowboy hat (for want of a better name for it). Underneath is some dialog, something about finding a pearl.
I've not seen this woman or dialog anywhere in the game, anyone know, or is this a development screenshot that never came to be?

This particular question has been asked and answered several times. Basically, its a quest that never made it into release (one can assume it was either never completed, or found to be beneath the normal quality of the game). The NPC does not appear anywhere in the game. There are a couple other little things you may see screenshots for that never made it in release, as well (a VV/Jeanette scene, for instance). However, the cow girl scene is particularly bothersome to people, as it was one of the back of the box screenshots.

I think the original meeting with LaCroix (I suppose you talk about the Trial where your sire is decapitated) is in the Nocturne Theatre. The interior looks the same. And if this is used for regular gatherings of the Kindred, it would also explain why the Nosferatu want you to place a camera at the place (Mitnick's quest).

I've just done that quest and, yes, it does seem to be the original meeting place.
