Monk Question
Monk Question
Hey eyeryone, I just started a new game with a Monk, I think this might be my new favorite. So far its going great, but what should I expect later on? I love how he uses his fists as a strong weapon.
"Today is the shadow of tomorrow."
There are some more details on this page: http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgatei ... s/monk.php
Check your manual to see exactly when the monk gets his special abilities and immunities.
Have fun with your character.

Monks are the ancient favoured solo games. I remember a time without kensai, or hacked characters, but monks running free and killing enemies in one blow.
I think the real drawback of the monk is the inexistence of items for them throught the game. You have a single item designed for them specifically, they will not be that effective if you give them weapons, but their resistances make them formidable oponents (enough for Wes Weimer to choose them for some of the most unbelievable encounters on his tactics and ascension mod, the monks that you encounter are really tough to love).
Solo the monk. Have a good time. Go back, play it in a team. They're fun, but if you're the treasue seeker RPG player you'll be soon looking to use a fun barbarian again...

Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.
Yeah
, monks are awesome. I had one outstanding before, that I just started playing again. The technique at level 13 is Quivering palmits a one hit ko.

Before using quivering palm, use greater malison, trust me. it lowrs there saving throws, so they will have minimal chances of saving. its fun to see people like shadow dragon go in one hit

No spam is allowed outside SYM. If you want to answer the poster's question about what they can expect with a monk later on in the game, fine. Otherwise, don't post.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
sorry, I dont understand.
and If I am being singled out for replying with a spoiler its kinda wrong because other people do it.
I learned something about the monk. if you use stunning blow, every hit when the thing is stunned will stun it longer

The main weapon for them (besides fists) is sold by the bonus merchant in the copper coronet, although im not sure what its called. I never did play as a monk for very long, but I found it was most fun soloing it because theyre awesome movement rate makes them loners when they get ahead and a battle breaks out. Have fun with your monk!

the weapon is scarlet ninja-to..
you can get the dload to get the bonus merchants from GBBonus Merchants for BG2:SoA
the merchants have really good stuff otherwise as well, but that sword is particularly helpful in the earlier stages when you encounter enemies that need magical weapons to harm them
