term for female gamers
i was on this other board and we were discussing female gamers (like me).
well, there should be a term for that. a word that word instantly let others know you a girl gamer. i was trying to merge the two words together and i'll i got was crap: femers, famers, gamales, gemales, gamfems, femgams
anyway, is there already a term?
note: i think my favorite is gamales (i pronounciate it like "tamales")

What about "gamer"?
There is not special word for male gamer, so why should there be a need for a special word for female gamers?

eech... wrong thing to ask on CE's watch stanolis
well i agree with CE, although women are a minority(atm) with games why should there be smth that tell immediately that you're a female? you can name you char with a womans name or type([girl] or [lollipop]) or smth like that after your name..
and if girl wants others to treat her as amale it's easy-don't say anything, and if she wants them to treat her like a woman, tell them that you are one.
it's one of womens advantages alongside being able to wear men's clothes.. when if a man wears womens clothes, he's a cross dresser->pervert(NOTE: i do not have an urge to dress in womens clothes nor do i know anyone who does)

I am sorry CE but you are very wrong. Don't you know us geeks can't get a decent girl and that we spend 99% of our lives on the net? So if we know a gamale is online we can try our hardest to make sure we can impress her with our online hacking abilities and how well we speak L337.
I must say this is a great idea. It will give my brethern a good chance at actually talking to a girl. Kissing one of course is a distant idea. I am all in favour of a term which will allow geeks to be able to hit on a girl via their online personas instead of assuming a player is a girl and ending up with a guy.

lol!
In other words, if you are female and want to avoid being hit upon by the likes of CM, it is a good idea to let male gamers believe you are male
On a slightly more serious note. My son has related something entertaining to me. He tends to play a couple of online games, and he frequently selects female characters precisely because the male players give him all kinds of nice freebies as a result.
He's been paying far too much attention to my stories on how to slip by customs officials...

I have to agree with the ppl who said there shouldn't be a separate term for female gamers. It's really ridiculous; who cares if someone's a guy or a girl in a game, anyway? You're all equal gamers looking to have fun. And like CE said, there's no specific term for "male" gamers.
And as dragon wench suggested, there will be girls pretending to be guys while gaming. And there could be some vice versa. Online, you never know. For all we know, both CE and dragon wench are men. And Magrus might actually be a girl (lol).

Is this why women pretend to be stupid and confused when set upon by those hairy beasts in public?
Hmm, so, what does a mother need to be slipping by custom's officials anyways?
@Chimaera182, oh, great. One more person that thinks I'm a lesbian!

Er... which hairy beasts? CM? Male gamers generally?
Hey... just because I'm a mother doesn't mean I'm utterly domesticated and have the word enblazoned across my forehead
Nothing too serious, to answer your question. Just the odd few bottles of wine over the usual quota, that kind of thing. It's amazing how customs officials forget to ask precise questions when a woman smiles sweetly at them

Male gamers, and yes, it is amazing. My roommate picked a fight with a bunch of people at the gas station today, and because she's cute, she grinned and everything let it all go after she cursed them out. I was in shock.
Why shouldn't female gamers get a special name if some of them want one? A name is nothing but a stupid label, if someone doesn't want to be labeled as such, they don't have to be. It all can be ignored. If they do, well they have their name.
Edit: Ah, they have quotas on wine?! Those crazy officials better like my smile too!

Awww no!!! In our guild in WoW, I'm the only girl - some of the guildies actually know I am female in real life, the others don't and I prefer it that way... Because as soon as guys find out that I'm a girl they go crazy and want to defend me which usually means I am supposed to stay back and only act on their instructions

No, I'd rather keep this info private.

a princess who doesn't want to be treated as such..
there's two possibilities for why they do that
1. they have a life but they want to fulfill their fantasy of a valiant and brave man protecting beautiful and defenseless woman.
2. they don't have a life and hope that you are impressed by their virtual self in order to some day actually meet you in person to get a smoochy or even a noogie
