stuck in theatre basement...any ideas?

I'm new to this game and this has happened to me twice now with 2 different chars. I can't go up in the lift in the theatre basement while my brother whom I'm playing with goes up no problem. I seem to fall through the floor. I can't get any further unless I can get to the second level right? So I'm looking for any ideas on how to "fix" this if possible. Thanx.

Do you have the lever that activates the elevator?. If not you have to find it leaning up against a wall on that level.

Yep, have the lever. Like I said my brother can go up in the same game, it's just me that can't. I'm thinking it must be my game or something.

Are you sure your at the same elevator? There are two elevators and one doesn't work no matter what you do. The other is missing a lever. You said your found the lever. Go to the elevator without a lever and put the lever in place.

When you say you seem to fall through the floor, it is possible that you stand too close to the edge of the elevator and when it starts to move up you fall. It happened to me one time and I tried again but standing just a bit farter on the platform, maybe this can help.
