I'm sure it's been asked before, but I have checked the forums and found nothing about it.
How can you load your character in a multiplayer game, that someone else hosts? Or do you have to be playing with them, in order for you to get in their game?
Furthermore, in a loaded save game, will it ever be possible NOT to start out with someone else even if you are rolling a new character?
Thanks for reading.

Once you start to play a MP game, you join the host, click load character and click Play This Character.
If you click Make New at anytime ... then your character is lost in the void.
However... theres a couple of ways to reclaim it.
The easiest way I believe is to send a friend your savegame.
Have them Host a MP game with that savegame.
YOU click the characters name on the far right (which is YOUR character).
Have them create a new character and start the game.
Have the HOST save the game (same slot will do), then have the HOST quit the game with you still in it.
That will write your character back to your computer so that the next time you start any game (SP or MP) you can goto the Load Character screen and click Play This Character and it'll be your character that you wanted to play with... UNTIL you click the Create New again...
Joining a online game with your saved character
Host your private Lan or direct ip game useing your savegame Character ,start the game then save over a game you can lose.
Then leave the game and go to Gamespy ,your character should then be accessable when you join a game online .
If you make a new character, it writes over the last chosen character.
Note :some savegame files have a copy of your first characters setup in
the file and wont give you your current progress in the game.
I hope this helped someone.
