Odd reputation decrease?

Post by mrjimsch »

I am soloing BG with a FMT, doing pretty well. Finished the bandit camp and decided to get some more xp before cloakwood. Did that, my reputation reached 19, awesome! Started cloakwood, decided to keep Coran as an extra bow and finish his quest my rep is now 9? WTF? Anyone got a clue? I don't understand a 10 point drop. I didn't do anything evil and my journal doesn't show anything.....Help

I can't think of anything that would have caused such a drop, though it is a long time since I've played BG1. I suggest downloading a programme called Gate Keeper. It is a game editor, and it should allow you to restore your reputation.

Here is the link :)

i started playing again today, and the only thing i have noticed to lower your reputation by 10 points is killing a innocent civilian someplace by accident (or on purpose hahaha) when u have a high rep. 19-20 rep knocks u down 10 points i believe. maybe if u cast fireball or some area spell u caught a civilian by accident? u could reload to a close save point, or use the gatekeeper like suggested earlier.

yeah maybe one of your area spells accidentally killed a civilian
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

You don't have to use Gatekeeper to pull up your reputation. Just take some of your excess money and find the nearest temple and start donating. Start with amouts of 100 gold and when your reputation stops going up after each donation pump it up to 200. After that I'm not sure if you can pay any more for reputation but that should atleast put you around 16. But I wonder; what actually happens with your donations. After my 'a-hem' misdeeds I have given the temples a little extra spending money but the always look the same. Could it be? Corruption in the Church.
