How I multiclass?

How I multiclass?

I feel very stupid on asking this. But...
How I can multiclass a character? For instance, I want to level up my Half-elf both in Cleric/Ranger classes and my half-ling into Fighter/Thief. I reached level 3 with my half-elf, but when I pressed "level up", he leveled up as a Cleric. How I can avoid that?

P.S: when you assume safe beginning multiclassing?
P.S2: Forgive me for my grammar, I'm italian, so my spoken english can be somewhat wrong.

Problem solved....
I just needed to select it from the beginnin -__-
I know 'tis only but a dream, yet feel more anguish
