Charm Glitch

Post by Ollie »

Alright fellas this is making me pretty damn furious... I recently reinstalled BG and have just got up to killing Davereon. I did so but he charmed my main character, so being the smartass I am I had Edwin place a charm on him to convert him back. Anyway... we won and looted the place. But now whenever Edwins charm spell wears off my main character turns hostile and won't go back to green... I've tired using cheats to get more charm spells and what not but it's not working... Anyone know anything?

Chram Glitch

First of all, try the obvious solution and cast Dispel Magic on the Dire-Charmed character while he's hostile.

If that doesn't work, try waiting the spell out. The description of the Dire Charm spell says it's supposed to last for 20 rounds. At six seconds per round, that's approximately 3 minutes real-world time, a little longer than you might have had patience for or were able to survive so far. While I'm sure 20 rounds have passed since your character was charmed, there might be a glitch in the game's mechanics that requires your character to remain directly under the Dire Charm spell's control for that full 3 minutes in order for the spell to expire on its own. Try putting the problem character on a small map with no commoners or other non-player NPCs on it (inside a house in Beregost or Joia's house at the Friendly Arm Inn immediately come to mind), then move the rest of your party outside and wait to see if the Dire Charm spell wears off on it's own after Edwin's spell expires.

There has to be a way in-game to remove Dire Charm spells. If not, it's one huge break in the game's balancing and it would be surprising if the development team overlooked it.

The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
