No dual-wielding for Monks?

Post by Baassie »

Is it true that Monks can't dual-wield or do I just have to get a proficiency? Whenever I try to put a weapon in the off-hand, I'm told 'Monks can't use a weapon in their off-hand'.

Doesn't that answer very clearly what you wanted to know? "Monks can't use a weapon in their off-hand" translates as Monks can't use a weapon in their off-hand.

Monks can't use off-hand weapons partly because they get so many attacks with their main hand (game balance). Of course, after the patch those extra attacks are only bare handed so forget about using weapons...this weakens the monks a little, but they're still very good.

Monks should use their fists anyway. Get the gauntlets of crushing and you can beat the crap out of everything... At level 15 you will do a base damage of 1d20! That is almost double as much damage as a katana... Now add strenght bonus/gauntlets of crushing + an insane number of attacks. And you get lots of cool abilities as well. Monks may not be big cheese like kensai/mage, but they do imo make for a more interesting game experience.
