At the moment I'm a level 11 Monk and I've pretty much been using my fist till now, doing 1-12 point of damage. Not a lot really, although it's cool to see him kick ass with just his fists and feet! I'm using Urbane's Sword +2 at the moment, but let's be real... it ain't an improvement. What's a good sword for my Monk and where can I find it? I've read somewhere he can use any sword he wants, even if he doesn't have a proficiency in it, so I guess there are lots of good choices. Anybody out there who knows the best choice? I'm in Chapter 3 at the moment, so only swords I can find and use right now are of any importance.

To have your threads closed, or not to have your threads closed... THAT'S THE QUESTION!
The post-patch monk is in no position to use weapons really. Stick to unarmed combat as much as you possibly could since this is what makes the monk so special and powerful.
Having played a little with a monk, though I got bored with him quickly, I can not recollect any weapon that was somehow beneficial for the monk to wield. Just pop any kind of sword with enough "+" to hit the enemy that you can not hit with your hands and you'll be fine I guess. I would advice you to just skip weapons all together and let the other members of your party handle what the monk can not.
In the higher levels a monk he can handle everything, save Kangaxx. Pretty boring really.

Post patch, just use your fists. Pre-patch the monks have an EXCELLENT monk only weapon (which is part of why I don't like the patch).
Look at the weapon files. My monk went through with Arbane's Sword early on, then switched to the Scarlett Ninja-To, Celestial Fury, and Sword of Balduran (depending on the situation).

Yeah, but your fists don't give you free action OR an extra attack and 12 points of poison damage that stops spell casting OR a save vs stun with every hit (always on Stunning Blow) OR a bonus 10% magic resistance.
Celestial Fury Stuns, Stunning Blow, and Quivering Palm can even be layered.

I use adjatha the drinker +2 long sword when fighting mind flayers and vampires, since the sword protects you from domination, and I use the boomerang dagger (or firetooth, as of yesterday) for any ranged attacks, but, 98% of the time, I just use the the open hand attacks. Layering stunning blow and quivering palm just after my mage cast greater malsion really kicks (pun intended)!

Does it seem strange to anyone elst that the monks can't use a quarterstaff? That seems the obvious weapon of coice, from a role=playing perspective.
