Hi folks,
after quite some time I've re-installed and restarted ToEE. I'm running on XP SP2, DirectX 9.0.c, with patch 3.
Problem is that my sorceror from the old party can't cast magic missile anymore. When selecting targets the counter shows something like '1/-511' .
So it looks like some variable has changed. Is this due to the mismatch between the version the sorceror has been generated with and the current patch version?
I'll begin a new game anyway, but am hesitant to waste a valuable spell slot on a useless spell.
Greetings

Hmm, that does sound like a problem related to solving the looting bug, which is what patch 3 does, but most people experience it when they improperly install temple.zip. This is the first time I've heard of it happening with patch 3.
Question, you mention 3, but not 2. Just to be sure, have you installed patch 2 as well? If not, you should uninstall and reinstall, then apply patch 2 before 3. If you do have 2, it'll be easy enough to start a new game with a sorc who knows m.m. and see if the problem is there. If it's not, then there's probably a conflict with your old save and you'll have to restart.
If none of that solves your problem, you could try either installing temple.zip instead of patch 3 (I'd recommend that anyway, but whatever). You could also try borrowing a folder or two from temple.zip to try and solve the problem the way it's solved with people have the issue with temple.zip (add the .zip's data folder's contents to your game's data folder), but that's mixing a mod and a patch, so it's not an ideal solution. I'd try the first two things I mention, and if they don't work, go with temple.zip.
You can get it here:
Temple.zip
----------
http://www.jadri.com/temple.zip
-or-
http://www.co8.org/files/patch/temple.zip
1. Unzip the patch. (Double click the folder you downloaded and choose the extract all files option in the corner of the window (XP))
2. Find the file in you GAME'S directory called "temple.dll" and remove it. (Put it somewhere you can find it again.)
3. Take the "temple.dll" file from the unzipped patch folder and put it where the original file was.
4. Inside the patch folder should be a folder called "data". Inside that folder should be three new folders. Take all of them and put them into the game's "data" folder.

Thanks your Lordship, but...
Patch 2 seems to be some elusive breed.
On the Atari page it reports as 0 bytes, the Patches Scrolls do not offer it, and the server ftp.infogrames.net - which the Circle of Eight links to - does not respond.
Guess your proposal has to wait two days before I can try my hand at it.
Nevertheless, thank you for your help!

I just went to the Atari download page (via the link at sorcerers.net, not that it should matter), and the download for patch 2 worked just fine.
