Silenced!

Post by Apeiron »

I´ve been silenced in Watcher´s Keep.
I think it's a bug, but the fact is that the spell doesn´t go away.
I just just can't speak to anyone, like a priest that would cure me.
I've tried the Amulet of Power, which grants vocalize, but I still can´t speak.
I don´t have any potion that could cure me.
Any hint?

Are you saying a spell did it? And did it hit your entire party? How long have you waited, in realworld terms with the game running?

Yes, a spell that i got in a room in the 3rd level of Watcher´s Keep.
I´m soloing, so I´m the party...
I´ve tried to sleep for a day and still can´t speak.
There are some potions that cure a lot of spells, but since I can´t talk, I can´t buy anything. :(

Is it possible to go up to the Pocket Plane call Keldorn and get him to dispel the effect? I think it's one of his abilities.

I don't know how much of that would require your character to talk though. :(

And how long have you had the silencing in effect? Has it lasted, say, beyond a day or two in game time?

Is there actually a silence icon or an orange ear on your avatar in game?
Could it actually be that you're not silenced but experiencing the annoying "...has nothing to say to you" bug?

Try reloading and talking again, what does the output box actually say? Does it have text or is it a case of the character turning to face you and not talking or something else.

More details on what's happening.

Hmm... I think I've had the exact same problem... did you get it from the Cambion with the Deck of Many Things?? From doing whatever you did with him and getting (I think) the Empress?

Remove Curse removes it, I think.

Ravanger - I´m still playing SoA, so I have not the pocket plane ability. But since I can´t speak, I think it would be useless.

Fable - I´ve sleeped for 3 days.

Deadalready - The icon is there. When I try to speak nothing happens. I don´t receive any kind of message.

Aztaroth - Yes, I think it was the cambion. I´m sure remove curse would do it (if it is a curse), if only I could have someone to do it.

I think there is a console command that allows you to automatically add any NPC to your party without needing to speak with them. Hopefully somebody here knows how to do that.

You could try adding Anomen or another cleric that way, if you are able to use the calling device in the pocket plane without talking. Then, just have the cleric memorise remove curse so he/she can cast it on you.

What character class are you? Do you have a greater restoration scroll or possibly even a Protection from Magic Scroll?

Deadalready - I´m a Kensai/Thief, I have protection from magic scrolls, but I can't do anything with them...

I don't know much about using the console codes. But, I imagine that if you used the search button to look through both the SoA and ToB forums you might find something helpful.

Failing that, I'd suggest loading a save (if you have one) before you entered the area, and adding a cleric (at least temporarily) to your party of one.

Why can't you use the protection from magic scroll? Using it might cancel the spell, it cancels all magic spells cast on your character.

Looking around hopefully you might find a remove curse spell, I think there might be one in one of the tents in Trademeet.

This is a bit of a long shot of course, but if you have reached HLA you might have used the familiar scroll through UAI. If so, then the familiar should be able to talk to anyone.

Use a vocalize scroll... That just might do the trick as it doesn't take a voice to cast and thats the beauty of it. After using it you should be able to talk again.

IIRC the familiar only talks to the PC. Though I might be wrong, it's been a while.

That is correct, familiars cannot initiate dialogue with npc's.

People can't talk to the familiar but your familiar can talk to other people, in fact it talks at a level similar to your pc character.
