Strongest Enemies(SPOILERS)

Post by Berethor »

Whats the most powerful enemy(s) that you faced in the course or BG2?

Mine was Nalmissra, Y'tossi, The Huntress etc. in watchers keep. This battle was extremely hard to beat. The Huntress with her powerful bow, Nalmissra with her death and confusion spells, Y' tossi with the damage and poison, the fighter with his damage, the priest with the blade barrier, and the weak Hive Mother. This battle made me use at least 15 reloads, until I found the perfect set of buffing spells and made sure I killed them in this order: Nalmissra, Y'tossi, The Huntress, The fighter, the priest, then the mommy. With Nalmissra gone the battle was signifigantly easier.

The guarded compound scuffle while soloing a F/M/T right out of Irenicus' dungeon. Not hard if I had leveled, but like I said I was right out of Chateau Irenicus. ;)

I was about to do that with a solo skald when I realised that skalds are weak and boring

I have, to this day, never beaten Demogorgon. Don't know why, but I just could never beat him and then I stopped trying, so I suppose that would be the hardest battle I ever fought because I never actually bested him. The battle right before him that Berethor mentioned with Y'tossi, Hive Mother, The Huntress , etc. would be a very close second.

The final battle, not to give away too much, but that boss is extremely tough without resorting to cheese (wish/traps)

Oh how wrong you are. They are an extremely exciting, and if you learn to utilise them correctly, powerful character if you learn how to use them. I have soloed one and I encourage all to do the same.
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

Remind me, what stats does the Skald kit have? I only can think of the blade and Jesters abilities.

EDIT: I just took out Firkraag with a 4 person party PC Mage/Thief elf Jaheira Keldorn Haer'dalis.
Took him out with 3 traps, stoneskins, buncha magic missles, fire elemental, hasted party, and minute meteors/breach when he casted stone skin.
Not tough, but time consuming and awesome end... Jaheira did a critical hit with her war cry. Ownage! (Carsomyr owns with Keldorn) :D

Oh God yeah, there was that Balor in the Underdark that owned me every time i i fought him... It must've taken me 5 tried before I just sent my guy in, left everyone else outside and Slayered him... Don't know why it was so tough, but it was.

the same thing happened to me, but i think it is because he stuns/holds 5out of 6 party members.

eventually keldorn with the carsomyr wacked it to bits while aerie casted holy smite.

i found kangaxx really hard when i attempted it before going after imoen but i did it afterwards and he was really easy lol. most of the difficult battles i found were cos i tried them at relative low levels. i also found the final battle hard the first time through cos i had a mage based party (4 mages lol) and in the end had to use my pc as the bhaal avatar thing but i did it the second time through with a largely cleric based party and it was easy.

in the watchers keep i found the battles at the end before you meet the trapped invisible thing on the bottom level near impossible. took so many reloads and changes of tactics to get through that.

Kangaxx is just cheese, I don't consider that hard =/ It's frustrating at first then a breeze when you "solve" it through counter-cheese.

The Watchers Keep battle is good, but to he honest, im guilty of over-preparing for it which makes it substantially easier.

The Sendai fight was actually on of my favorites because, as a flowing battle, you can't prepare ahead of time for the majority of the fight. This made it the most exciting fight i'd ever had the first time I played it. Sadly, the second time around with me knowing what to expect, it lost a lot of it's luster.

Assuming you're not running Improved Demogorgon...the best way to beat him is with a melee heavy party. 3-4 characters with multiple Greater Whirlwinds and good weapons will rip him apart, assuming you have someone who can Breach him.

Demogorgan was very hard for a solo f/m/t... it came down to protection from magical weapons, breach, and greater whirlwinds... took me about 8 tries... But I still have yet to beat Amellysan, so she may be my hardest... Have sent her back twice, and I'm running dangerously low on spells.
And did anyone else find Draconis much harder than Abazigal? Draco took me a couple hours, with his casting abilities, while I waltzed in on Abazigal and diced him without a scratch to show for it... Doesn't make much sense...

Improved Abazigal (Gaider). I eventually resorted to black Ioun stone cheese. I was out of resources by the time it was just Abazigal and had gotten rid of everyone else. Every. Time. Really annoying how many heals I needed during that fight. I once came really close, but it just wasn't enough fun for me.

I don't see why people think Kangaxx is so hard. I only had to reload once when fighting him.

Toughest battle...hmm...the battle I had to reload the most was the battle with the shadow dragon in the temple ruins. Of course, my characters were only level eights then...

I'm less than normal. Deal with it.

Draconis was the most difficult for me.The first time he killed half my party as a monk and finished the other half as a dragon.:speech:
